Is Dancing with the Stars cursed?

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 2nd 2007 4:41PM

Dancing with the StarsShort answer: no.

Long answer. no. Duh!

But it's the question being asked over on Access Hollywood's web site. With Jennie Garth falling and Marie Osmond passing out and Jane Seymour's mom dying and then Seymour getting food poisoning, it sounds like Dancing with the Stars is cursed! Well, actually it just sounds like sometimes wacky things happen when you're on live television. I like how they add in (probably because they're aren't enough real examples to make all of this sound like a "curse") Seymour's home almost being burned in the Malibu fires. And since when does someone being voted off the show (Sabrina) count towards a "curse?"

If a meteor hits the studio while they're filming an episode or the celebs start vanishing one by one, then I'll believe it's a curse. In fact, if either of those two things actually happen, I'll start watching the show every single week and go to the web site and buy a mug or T-shirt.

Dancing is good for exerise. It nothing wrong with it. Jeannie falls, Marie fainted and father passed away and Jane lost mother. It is natural. We can't control. I don't think it is not curse. Dance is part of exerise. People do falls during dance.

I will say it again. The idea of this show is that the "stars" do not have dancing experience. The producers made a mistake booking Sabrina and Mel because they both have dancing experience with their previous groups. They also made a mistake with Jane as she took ballet until she was 16. Booking these people is unfair to the rest of the entertainers.

So I think that the votes from the audience are now reflecting their views and noting that those with dancing experience should not be on the show. Jane and Mel should be the next to go. Let's face it, Jane can not even do the fast dances fast.

Once Jane and Mel go then it will be a fair competition.

The producers should wise up and not book the cheaters with dancing experience. Nor should they book people like Heather Mills, who is famous because she is divorcing Sir Paul and Mel B, who just had Eddy Murphy's kid. I think all that was done for the publicity value it afforded the show.

There are enough people who now want to get on this show that they should have enough people who have no dancing experience or "scandalous" press leading up to the show.

OK, enough is enough. Either the judges vote or the fans vote! I thought is purpose of this show was to pick the "Best Dancers." I think it should be left up to the Judges because I fans have no clue. Their just voting because they like the people. That is totally unfair and personally having been a dancer for many years it makes me sick to see the best dancer on the show get the boot.
I'm really not interested anymore and it saddens me because I love to watch dancing.

Are we trying to make news? That is the problem with 24 hour "news". If there is none, the media makes it.

My question is what happens to DWTS with the writer's strike? I mean, Tom can wing it all day, but without the crutch of a TelePrompter, Samantha is toast.

Pretty disrespectful of them to associate Jane's mother's passing with some so-called DwtS curse.

If anything, American Idol has more of a curse. With the exception of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, none of the winners have had much commercial success with their debut after AI. Even the runners-up had more success.

The fact this show is on TV all the time is a curse. Peopel make fun of American Idol, but at least at the end of AI there is a new singer. What happens at the end Dancing? Plus none of them are stars AND it's on at least twice a year, and AI is only one once.
