WGA Strike: ABC will air eight episodes of Lost

by Anna Johns, posted Nov 9th 2007 12:22PM
carlton cuse; lost; wga24 may be on the back burner for Fox because of the writers strike, but ABC says it plans to air at least eight episodes of Lost in the mid-season. Lost executive producer and co-creator Damon Lindelof was on the picket line this week supporting his writers when he told Broadcasting & Cable about the network's plans. He said the eighth episode, which is already written, ends with a cliffhanger. So it could, theoretically, cap off a shortened season if the writers strike continues through the New Year.

Lindelof didn't say whether this changes ABC's plans to run the season straight-through starting in February. I imagine that if we only get 8 episodes of Lost next season, they'll probably air in February and then in May for sweeps. Just a guess, though.

Lost's other high profile executive producer, Carlton Cuse, was also on the picket lines this week. He had a sign that said: "Do you want to know what the island is?".

WGA strike sucks, here's why

Just watch this Video :

http://blip.tv/file/489668

And add to this, that this strike costs 33,000 non-WGA jobs and 80 millions per day to the community.

So yeah, while the writters are still whinning on the lines, non-WGA people weren't able to buy holiday gifts for their kids and families, and will probably have to sell their houses or freakin live in the streets.

Way to go poooooor WGA, rot in hell. I hope the AMPTP hires writters from canada/england to take up the jobs in their stead.

I think we should just give the writers the money they want, they deserve it after all the GREAT episodes of Lost. That is the ONLY show i watch and that i am devoted to. I even wrote my own Lost book about Edmund's partner Radzinsky and how he came to the island. If anyone would be interested in reading, E-mail me and i'll send it. Thanks for reading.

It's sad that greedy corporate executives don't know how to share properly. I guess that's how they became greedy corporate executives. But to deny payment due to the way the content broadcast is absurd. If I have to watch commericals then someone is getting paid...spread it around to all the people who made that viewing possible. that includes the people who wrote the script!

I love lost but I am behind the writers 100% they deserve their props.

I would do 1 of 2 things:

1. Air the 8 episodes that have been completed, then when the strike ends, have them get together to complete the remaining 8. Air those in the summer.

2. Air the 8 they have, start season 5 in January 2009, and make it 24 episodes instead of 16 just like 24 does The first 8 would make up what would have been the second half of season 4.

This strike sucks. On the other hand though, I'm behind the writers 100%.I'm a firm believer that if you have your name attached to something, you deserve royalties for it. These greedy production company people don't see it that way hence the strike I hope the writers truly get what they deserve because they work so damn hard to bring us great TV. Strikes are all about who's going to cave first and I hope it's the greedy suits.

WGA all the way!

um... first , i don't like the fact that they strike but there is something more but its only my own thought...
listen,on the picture it says "do you want to know what the island is?" it makes me think that its "something" , not a place that really exist but something like every one of us have in mind but its only imagination. i think it may be something like this becouse of how the question is made "WHAT THE ISLAND IS" not something like where it is but what it is...i hope you get the point, but i wish its just my wierd thought and im and in the future i will watch LOST and discover everything like the producers made it and not by my own imagination... im out

I agree with you, Whitney. There are few shows in which I would be really mad if they were affected by the strike; annoyed, yes, but not all that mad. I watch a lot of shows, I enjoy a lot of shows, and I while I'll watch reruns if I really like the show, obviously new shows are much better. But Lost, man, I will be really pissed if the strike messes it up. We have such a long break in between seasons anyway and if I want to watch episodes again, I just pull out my tapes and watch them (yes, I still tape -video tape!- I know I'm way behind the technology curve) because I've taped them all anyway. And, my public library has the dvd's in for borrowing ( my library has some really good stuff!). So just for Lost, I hope this gets resolved quickly, though from everything I've read on Tvsquad and other places, it may be a long one.
