Hannah Montana to the big screen

by Richard Keller, posted Nov 24th 2007 1:13PM

The cast of TV's Hannah Montana is moving to the big screen in 2008Unless you've been habitating beneath a mass of consolidated mineral matter over the last two years you know that Disney's Hannah Montana is BIG. You can't turn around in your local, unfeeling, big box toy store without seeing something with Hannah's logo or picture and an astronomical price tag on the front. Well, get ready, because the teen superstar is about to get even bigger.

Filming will begin sometime in April on a big screen version of Hannah Montana. News reports are saying that the film could premiere at the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009 (although, that could be pushed back even further due to the seemingly never-ending Writers' Strike). The film will take 14-year-old Miley Stewart and her dad (played by real daughter-father team Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus) back to their fictional home in Tennessee where, I am sure, hilarity will ensue.

In reality, Billy Ray and his family have a home in the Volunteer State and would very much like to film the movie there. Unfortunately, the state may not be able to offer enough financial incentives for Disney to film there. If plans fall through filming may be moved to Louisiana, which seems to be providing a little more sumthin-sumthin for Disney to consider. You know what that means, proud citizens of Tennessee? Time to start a web petition to have the Hannah Montana movie filmed in your state.

Whether it is filmed in Tennessee, Louisiana, or the moon I know I'll end up being one of the first people in line for tickets after my daughters incessantly beg me for days on end.

Man #6 – You nailed it on the head. Now we see comments made by Miley that dad is “weird” about her dating and lurking around when she has a boy over. Is there something a bit obsessive going on here. This best friend stuff sounds like it is covering up some other kind of unorthodox relationship between these two. Check out this link and tell me this is the workings of two “best pals.”

Keep Hannah out of Tennessee. She's coming to the FedEx forum and it sold out in ~3 MINUTES! And parents are paying $1000s for tickets. Just more Disney crap for pre-pubesent girls. Her dad is riding on her recent sucess. He has some new tv show too.

I saw Miley Cyrus on Oprah (I was channel surfing, honest!) and the audience of girls were screaming and crying like crazy. I didn't get it... but I got how much money that kid is worth and wished I knew how to create such a profitable monster out of such a pedestrian show?

Agreed Hannah Montana is awful and all the interviews with her father are creepy.
He calls her his best friend. Any guy out there want to describe what they want to do with their female best friends.

Hey how come I never got my Punky Brewster big screen movie? Please no remake with todays little starlets.

If I was TN I would want that movie as far away from me as possible. The whole movie must be laden with hill billy jokes

Lizzie Maguire was really big too but it didn't stop the movie from tanking.

Whoa this is so exciting. I get to see one of my favorite singers on the big screen. First it was High School Musical and now it is Hannah Montana. The upcoming years will be great. I bet she will perform tons of new songs, well as long as they keep "Nobody's Perfect" and maybe feature a cameo by some other artist as well. Oh wait, they gotta still sing "Best of Both World's". I hope you all keep reporting on this story.

Thanks!

It's probably just me getting old (and being male), but I caught about ten minutes of this show for the first time this morning, and it's bad. I mean really, really BAD. The acting is crap, the dialog is riddled with cliches. Yeesh that is a crappy show.
