Billie Piper to return to Doctor Who

by Martin Conaghan, posted Nov 27th 2007 12:22PM
Rose TylerGood news for Doctor Who fans, in particular fans of actress Billie Piper, who played the part of Rose Tyler from the show's return in March 2005 until July 2006.

The British actress will be returning in no fewer than three episodes in the forthcoming series -- set to air in 2008 -- giving the Doctor three companions over the course of series four.

Piper's character was stranded in an alternative universe (forever, it seemed) at the end of season 2, but she will now return for a three-part story arc -- and with a bit of luck, we'll see her team up with Martha Jones to vie for the Doctor's affections.

Before that happens, Doctor Who is set to return to our screens on 25 December in a Christmas special entitled 'Voyage of the Damned' -- so stay tuned to TV Squad for a review.

Oh my gosh this is so cool! i think that there is like going to be a huge cat fight between martha and rose, but i'm hoping that rose will win... which she is likely because i didn't see the doctor having flashbacks of martha or being all depressed about it
Anywho........
I can't wait and i hope that the doctor will get up the courage to tell rose that he really does love her!
Hmm... i wonder how there going to make her leave him, because knowintg rose there is no way she would leave the doctor and the doctor would never let her go again now that he has her back!
ohh no! i wonder if they arte going to kill her off or have some depressing goodbye against their will again!
Oooo i cant wait!!!

Kewpie I soooo agree with you. I do not care if everyone says it is the most awful cop out in the entire universe, anything will do to get Rose back with the Dr. They were always the best together and always will be. I think they should be signed up for like 10 years each (LOL) when they decide to join a programme like this.

Oh, PLEASE let her return for good. God, I cried at the end of Doomsday. Don't care if it cheapens the sacrifice - it's like she said - "Can't you come through properly?" "The whole thing would fracture. Two Universes would collapse." "So?"

One scenario is that the Doctor and Donna met Rose of the past. This way, the real, present Rose is still in the parallel universe. What do you think?

You know... it just says that she'll be back. It's possible that Jack, working for Torchwood (who will also be back, along with Sarah Jane), will be able to communicate with Rose in the Alternate Universe, but not physically travel. Another possibility is that Rose will be: an andoid, a replicant, an alien shapeshifer, a memory, from another point in the Doctor's life, brought into some sort of 'temporal purgitory'... the list goes on and on. I, for one, just hope it's not cheesy. I too hope it's not this "oh yeah, there's this one small crack..", and I also hope it's not something as lame as 'love' (I'm sorry, but I'm not a shipper and don't care about romance between The Doctor and his companion).

Rose fans email me at flowersforthejudge@live.com to talk about how Rose should b reintroduced to Doctor Who. And if she doesn't stay full-time by the end of her appearances in Series Four, let us hope she isn't given a farewell like in Doomsday. If they bring her back now they should leave it open from now on. No more definitive ways to get rid of the companion or enemy like the Daleks, Cybermen and Master!!!

OH MY F-ING GOD!!!!! You have NO CLUE how happy this makes me!!!!! OMG! When I first got into "Doctor Who" I thought that David Tennent and Billie Piper were THE perfect on-screen couple and their charecters were abso-fricking-lutly MENT to be together! When I found out what happened to Rose in "Doomsday" I literally cried!!! Now that she (Billie Piper) is coming back just makes me want to do my little happy dance! (YES! I am 17-years-old and I have a HAPPY DANCE!)

AND..............
In response to everyone who says that bringing Rose back after "Doomsday" will "cheapen" the ending of the episode..... I think your wrong. OR at least you could be. It really all depends on how the writers decide to do it. If the use some lame cop-out like "Oh yeah, well, there is this one thing that could be done, he just didn't think of it, and now, poof- she's back!" THAT would be lame. BUT if they used something like "Love brought them back together" that would be okay by me.

Another thing that you would have to take into consideration, the above article says that she "will be returning in no fewer than three episodes" means that she's not back permanently. Wouldn't The Doctor's losing Rose, finding a way to be with her again, and losing her once more be more heartbreaking than just losing her once?
