Lipstick Jungle takes over for ER in February

Lipstick JungleWell, we knew that replacement shows would be announced because of the strike, and here's one: NBC's Lipstick Jungle. It's going into ER's Thursday at 10pm slot in February, when the medical drama runs out of new episodes. I actually thought that ER would run out of episodes long before February, so this is good news for fans.

Lipstick Jungle stars Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan), Kim Raver (24, The Nine), and Lindsay Price (The Price Is Right - just kidding, she was on Pepper Dennis, Coupling, and Jack and Jill) as three sexy NYC execs who get involved with ... well, lipstick I imagine. Possibly even jungles.

The article also says that no other TV series has run in ER's time slot since the show began 14 years ago. Is that true? No other show has run in that time slot in the past decade and a half, even for one or two episodes? Hmmm...I did some checking, and they have had shows in that time period before, such as repeats of their Thursday night comedies (their "Night of 100 Laughs" or whatever it was called). Not sure if any new, original episodes of a show have aired in that time slot (The Black Donnellys was supposed to run Thursdays at 10 but was switched to Mondays when ER started to do well again), and if that's the case than that's an interesting piece of trivia. But I wonder...

i've said it a few times before, the pilot of this show was likely the worst thing i've ever watched. it was so god awful terrible that i might have to watch it again to see if its actually really on tv.

It has been documented, almost immediately after the start of the strike, that ER would be one of the last shows to air first-run episodes, perhaps even into February. The blogger's surprise of this surprises me, I thought "how many in the can" in terms of shows for each network was common knowledge for TV fans/reviewers. Yeah so, the writers wrote many scripts ahead of time (defeats the purpose of the strike) and they shot them and are finishing up.

It is interesting about that timeslot. That's like a professional sports player in this era playing their entire career with the same team.

In Spring 2004, they aired the first season of The Apprentice and it had pretty huge ratings back then. They also ran that Jeff Goldblum crime drama in that time slot a few weeks before switching to Fridays. They should've retired ER back in 04 when it was still pretty good, but now its definately time to say goodbye.

Yeah, the last 5 or 6 episodes of S60 ran in that time slot, but I don't know if the article I link to above means regular season or includes summer shows.

Didn't they run the last couple episodes of Studio 60 in that slot. I thought you of all people would remember that.
