American Idol season seven hype begins

American Idol JudgesIt's not even December, and American Idol's seventh season is still a month and a half away -- but the hype has already begun. According to an interview with Extra, the American Idol judges - Simon, Paula, and Randy -- are in agreement: This is going to be the BEST SEASON EVER!!

Last year, as you may recall, season six was often slammed by fans and critics as the WORST SEASON EVER. Who could forget Sanjaya? Oh wait, we did. His 15 minutes of fame only lasted 12.5 minutes. But for all of our Sanjaya-bashing, at least he kept things interesting in an otherwise bland and uninspiring year. Seriously, does anyone even care that Jordin Sparks just released her debut album?

FOX, of course, is determined not to repeat last year's mistakes. It probably didn't help things when Simon and Paula slammed Seattle as the worst audition city ever before season six even began. So it makes sense that this year the judges are helping to hype season seven in a more positive and glowing light.

Randy Jackson declared this year's top twelve -- "the best we've ever had." According to Simon, it's "potentially" the best season. He also called it "fresher" and called the contestants "better." Paula is also excited about the upcoming season. There's so many good contestants that Paula claims, "Simon Cowell cannot predict the winner this season."

Randy went out on a limb to offer this prediction: "Somebody with hair will win Idol season seven."

Go check out the Extra interview.

I hate that reality shows will not be affected. Some have gone on too long. The Bachelor (of course I am sure soap lovers love this one) forget it! American Idol started to bore me. It's all more of the same. AND it preempts "Bones" too often. No, don't all boo at once. The "bones" plots are questionable, but I love the interplay amongst the characters. Also, I started with Kathy Reichs' books, she is the REAL "Bones" & her credentials are awesome. thanks for listening. Cyd

Last year was the worst Idol there has ever been. The contestants were so bland and boring and Sanjaya just made things worse. The judges made a huge mistake putting Sanjaya, Antonella, Haley, and Blake in the top 24. No one was interesting and you felt like no one even deserved to win the title. American Idol could've stepped up the other seasons as well. If it were up to me, this is who the winners of each season would be:

1:Kelly Clarkson(she's sold so many albums)
2:Clay Aiken(he was quite talented and American seems to love him)
3.Jennifer Hudson(although I hated season 3 also, Jennifer won an oscar and had some pipes)
4.Carrie Underwood(look at how successful she is! She has the look too)
5.Chris Daughtry(AWESOME! His album sales are outstanding and he is always near the top of the charts)
6.Jordin, LaKisha, or Chris R.(no one was good enough to win this year, but those three I think could sell the most albums and had the best voices. LaKisha could do pop and Chris R.'s looks would sell albums to women. Jordin's album isn't doing well, but imagine if someone else would've won. They probably wouldn't sell 200 CDs.

Yeah sanjaya really did mess up last season. But that wasn't the only problem. This season needs to step it up.

Last year sucks, and that was proven with the "winner's" CD selling the least out of any of the Idols.

Last year was excellent, however Sanjaya got in the way. I cant wait to see whom will be my favorite this year.

Too bad, David, you missed season 4 with Carrie and Bo. That was truly entertaining. I'm glad to know the show is still going strong.

It was only a matter of time until the masses figured out that the title of "American Idol" that a winner obtains on this show holds very little meaning in terms of actual success in the music industry. You'd think that the major labels would jump on top of this huge publicity machine, but they, in general, seem to have forgotten about their own marketing fundamentals.

The reality is that many of the participants in the show are largely inexperienced when it comes to the music business as well as the craft of creating the music. As you can imagine, that makes things difficult.

It's all become old hat with the success hyped by the show for the winners being largely fantasy. On top of that, it became quite clear that they were getting lazy with the show. Watching it became increasingly boring as they have persisted in rehashing the same, predictable formula while at the same time drawing out the season to take up as much airtime as possible. They are absolutely right to reassess the show.

Last season was the first time I watched AI. (I'm not into contemporary music, so I'm not really the target audience.) I was very underwhelmed by the quality of the contestants. I am going to watch again this season, and I hope it's more enjoyable.
