Boston Legal December spoilers

Alan and Gerry from Boston Legal
I missed Boston Legal this week. I hate that they don't have consistent weekly episodes--how Boston Legal just disappears for weeks to accommodate the U.S. Open or some national dog show. Because I was disappointed in missing the banter between Spader and Shatner or the rest of the absurd cast of characters, I decided to find out what's going to happen on December's episodes of Boston Legal.

Episodes will air on December 4th, 11th, and 18th (Christmas episode!) at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

December 4: Oral Contracts

  • Denny is accused by two undercover cops of soliciting gay sex in a bathroom (a little George-Michael moment).
  • Shirley takes on Bethany in a case about a man who gets fired from his radio station for saying old people should die.
  • Whitney faces off against a 14-year-old future lawyer whose parents don't want him having an iphone because he can use it to look at porn.
December 11: No Brains Left Behind
  • Denny wants to sue Bert McAdams for taking him to his restaurant only to have said restaurant closed because of a flood. (Does it get any better?)
  • Alan and Denny attempt to enroll in the National Guard. (This scene should be funny.) But they are refused because the maximum age is 42. (This probably will lead to some dialogue on the balcony about aging--I'm sick of them lamenting getting older.)
  • A new character, Marlena (Shirley's granddaughter), wants legal help because she was expelled for tampering with a standardized test.
December 18th: Green Christmas
  • The parents of the 14-year-old from the December 4th show come to Whitney because their son has been looking at porn on his iPhone. (Because what other reason is there to own an iphone if not to look at porn?)
  • Leigh breaks up with Jerry citing that she has fallen for another--an iphone. (I doubt she uses it to look at porn though.)
  • Clarence gets a foreclosure notice and he and Alan try to work things out with the bank. (I wonder if he signed for the mortgage as his alter-ego Clarice.)
  • Alan also accompanies Denny to the doctor who explains that Denny could be in the early stages of Alzheimer's. (No big surprise there. This was a long time coming.)

The iPhone parents don't come back in the Dec. 18 ep. The storyline was MOVED to the Dec. 18 ep.

ABC has been treating this series like it's ugly, red-headed stepchild for last few years. You'd thnk being the most watched show in its time period would be enough. I always get annoyed when ABC pulls the series during sweeps; it's no wonder it doesn't have a chance to build on its audience.

This season they have been treating BL well. They only screwed it up because of the CA fires. They showed several episodes in a row besides that one week.

They never show it in most of November, and come back for a few episodes in December.

Wait until after the new year, BL ratings should be huge if ABC is smart enough to delay BL until February. If the strike continues Boston Legal has 15-16 episodes done and have only showed 6-7 episodes, so they should still have half a dozen episodes for next year.

Gotta Love Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor for pre-empting Boston Legal.
Thankfully Tivo will pic up the correct episodes.

More Apple Product placement with the iPhone. Journeyman uses it almost every week.

ABC sures knows how to alienate its audience with its constant interruptions and preemptions. It's hard to believe that they are treating us to 3 episodes in a row. Yea!

The geniuses in broadcast TV wonder why they can't attract a upscale audience. Here is one of the best written, funniest, savviest shows around and ABC continues to make it difficult to watch.

Enough ranting. I doubt that Anne Sweeney is reading this anyway. I guess my TIVO will be getting a workout, with Nip/Tuck on at the same time. I'll watch BL live and then catch Nip/Tuck.

Actually more like a Senator Craig moment. (It's more recent).
