Project Runway: Trendsetter
Gallery: Project Runway: Episode 4
The special guest judge was DKNY's Donna Karan. I was really amused by her facial expressions. Every time she doled out some harsh criticism with a stone flash, she'd immediately flash a really cheesy grin.
Team Christian (with Jack and Kit): They took on pleather, fringe, and zoot suits. I was madly in love with Kit's creation. The silhouette was stunning and, if I had a better body, I would probably wear something like that every day. However, I felt as though the collection relied too much on the pinstripe for cohesion and didn't reflect their trends quite enough. The zoot suit aspect was overwhelming and the pleather and fringe were barely there, if at all.
Team Ricky [ALMOST AUF'D] (with Victorya and Elisa): They took on underwear as outerwear, cut-outs, and neon. Oh, my word. I was so frustrated with this team. First of all, I can understand where Victorya was coming from, saying that Ricky wasn't strong enough as a leader. He definitely lacked the confidence to steer his team in the right direction. That said, Victorya was being a bitch. I mean, there is no other way to put it. I think she wanted to run the team but didn't want to risk getting Auf'd by taking the role as leaders. Leaders of losing teams are pretty much always the ones to go home. In a way, it was a smart thing to do, but it also created some unnecessary conflict that resulted in a less-than-wonderful collection.
Team Jillian (with Rami and Kevin): [WINNERS] They took on overalls, poodle skirts, and 70s flare. Way to go, Jillian! I wouldn't be caught dead in any of those outfits, but, I must admit, they looked like something off a modern runway. Everything was beautifully constructed and I can see why the judges were impressed.
Team Chris [AUF'D] (with Steve and Sweet P): They took on baggy sweaters, shoulder pads, and dancewear. I didn't really see the baggy sweaters or the dancewear. The only things represented were the shoulder pads, and those were in the form of Chris' sad-looking jacket. This was just unfortunate all around. Not only were the designs weak, but the only thing holding the pieces together was a similar color palette. I don't know what Donna Karan was thinking, saying that Sweet P's dress was lovely. Sweet P also had the funniest moment of the episode...
Heidi, asking who should be Auf'd: Sweet P?
Sweet P: Can I do eeny-meeny-minie-mo?
Heidi: SWEET P.
Sweet P: Aahhhh!
Also, on Tuesday at 10/9c, The Real Housewives of Orange County, the Bravo show with the scariest cougars in the world, will feature a very special Project Runway guest. I believe Austin Scarlett from Season 1 is assisting one of the big-boobed bimbos with a dress.
