ABC pulls Big Shots

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 11th 2007 9:56AM

Big ShotsBig Shots, the show I haven't heard one person talk about this new season, has been pulled from the lineup by ABC effective immediately.

The show starred Dylan McDermott, Michael Vartan, and Joshua Malina (who is on Last Call with Carson Daly tonight, probably to plug the show - awkward!) and aired Thursdays at 10pm, right after Grey's Anatomy. I guess not too many people were sticking around after that highly-watched show. There are three episodes left and ABC is taking the show off the air. No word on whether the show will return at a later date or if the episodes will show up online at some point.

Some are surprised that ABC would do this, since we're in the middle of a writers strike and the networks could use all of the original episodes that they can get. Big Shots will be replaced by reruns of Private Practice, which happens to be the spinoff of Grey's so now you fans can get an hour of Grey's/Private Practice goodness or Thursday nights.

I loved Big Shots and in fact, was the only new show I warmed up to last year.

I can't believe it didn't make the cut. On the other hand, I don't think it got much attention from ABC in the way of promoting it.

I really loved this show.

I think Big Shots was a really entertaining show that dealt with gender relations in a new way that we haven't seen on TV; it just seemed to be in a bad time slot. I really think ABC execs need to realize that it's crazy to pull the remaining three episodes when the only original content they now have is another reality game show! Everyone who commented here please go to ABC.com and contact them with your comments! Perhaps if enough people send emails they will stop pulling shows mid-season, especially during a Writer's Strike no less!

It's probable noone will come back to this at this point, but they will show the unaired episodes. According to abc's site the next episode airs Friday Jan. 11th at 12AM.

I started to watch the show, because Paul Blackthorne was on it. The storylines were pretty good, so I kept watching it. I'm sorry that it got cancelled so quickly.

You have to be kidding me! I just love love love this show! It was just such a nice change of pace from the superhero, crime drama, reality bull, melodrama type of stuff that is always on! And to not even finish it out and replace it with Private Practice reruns is the dumbest thing! It sounds like they are just trying really hard to get more Private Practice viewers. (and I am one of those too!)

Horrible horrible idea! This was a wonderful show. One that I looked forward to each week. It's a shame that so many people love reality TV that it causes good shows like this to be removed.

I know that my DVR won't record private practice twice in one week, so what's the point?
