Alex Trebek suffers a heart attack

Alex TrebekJeopardy! host Alex Trebek had what is being described as a "mild" heart attack late last night.

The 67 year-old Trebek is still at Cedar's-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. He will stay there for a few days so doctors can observe him and do more tests. Of course, whenever they say someone had a "heart attack," it's hard to figure out exactly what they mean, since a heart attack is a specific thing and different than other things that can happen to your heart. And you can tell by my clever use of the word "things" that I have absolutely no medical training whatsoever.

Jeopardy! is currently on hiatus until January. The pic above is from Trebek's appearance at Merv Griffin's funeral a few months ago. Roger King died earlier this week from a stroke, so it's been a scary time for King World-related people.

Glad to hear the attack was only mild and it's actually not so hard to tell what "heart attack" means. It means a portion of the heart muscle was injured due to lack of oxygen/blood flow. His was only small which means very little of the heart muscle was injured. Now doctors need to figure out the cause of the attack which means more tests which means Mr. Trebek will probably have to lay off of the daily double cheese burgers. Oopps. Wrong game. That's a "before and after." Best wishes Mr. Trebek.

Fortunately it was just a mild heart attack, so his life isn't in jeopardy or anything.

Burt Reynolds did: To cheer Alex up, he showed up at the hospital in a large cowboy hat. it's funny because it's bigger than a normal hat.
