Nielsen ratings for the week ending December 9

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 12th 2007 8:02AM

CSIHere are the weekly ratings, by number of viewers.

Funny how the ratings race becomes a little bit more interesting when Dancing with the Stars vanishes from the schedule. Though I guess it's always possible that ABC will give Marie Osmond her own weekly variety show again, and she can dance and sing and faint and cry and sell her dolls and find her way back into the top 10 again. NBC makes a strong showing, with five shows in the top 20 (though I guess two of them are really one show, Sunday Night Football and the Pre-Kick). Also good to see Rudolph at #4. They must think he's cuuuuuuuuuute.

1. CSI (CBS)

2. Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
3. 60 Minutes (CBS)
4. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (CBS)
5. Survivor (CBS)
6. Extreme Makeover (ABC)
7. Sunday Night Football (NBC)
8. Without A Trace (CBS)
9. Mitch Albom's For One More Day (ABC)
10. The Amazing Race (CBS)
11. Two and a Half Men (CBS)
12. Law and Order: SVU (NBC)
13. Cold Case (CBS)
14. Deal Or No Deal (NBC)
15. Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People (ABC)
16. NCIS (CBS)
17. Heroes (NBC)
18. Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kick (NBC)
19. House (FOX)
20. Private Practice (ABC)

And still no coverage of CSI on TV Squad?

I can't believe Heroes being only #17 is an issue! It's the first appearance on the list since this year's premiere episode made it. It generally comes in THIRD in it's own timeslot, nevermind not making the top twenty for a week. But for nbc that is considered a hit these days. Was it up against reruns now that sweeps are over?

OK, I give up. Number 17 is good ;-)

It's #1 for me though. There isn't anything in #1-#16 that I'd ever watch.

#17 is very healthy.

Plus NBC can't really afford NOT to hype up Heroes since it's their #1 show in the key demos. And yeah, top 20 is not too shabby at all.

@Derek

I would hardly considder #17 a poor showing in the ratings, considering how much there is on TV these days I would think
#17 us a very respectable showing for a season that left a lot of people underwhelmed.

Also considering House is at #19 for a much more critically acclaimed show that seems to be on it's A-game, I think Heroes is doing pretty well for itself.

Can you stop with the Marie Osmond shtick? Ugh. Your constant comments about her are far more annoying than anything she did on that show. Ugh!

I'm amazed to see Heroes at only number 17. If you listen to the hype surrounding it, you'd expect it to be number 1, and by a big margin. Don't get me wrong, I love the show, and hope that the poor showing in the ratings doesn't harm it's future.
