Actresses from Smallville and BSG launch a new website

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Dec 24th 2007 1:03PM
Allison MackSmallville actresses Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk are teaming up with Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne and Sarah Edmondson to launch a website for college students.

On her official website, Allison Mack reveals that the four of them "are building something really awesome geared directly to college students" and that they are currently looking for students' feedback in order to know what the still-unnamed website will offer exactly.

The actresses, with the help from a survey company, launched a survey website in order to gather the needed intel. They ask that only high school seniors to college students answer the questions but, for this article's sake, I went ahead and answered the serious to wacky questions found in the survey.

It looks like the site will tackle anything and everything that can happen in students' lives. Here is a sample of the questions:
  • You're finished classes for the day and as you're walking home, you hear the resonant sounds of a bumpin' party. How much would you cough up to see what all the fuss was about?
  • How invested are you (emotionally, financially, academically) in the following issues: global warming, abortion rights, etc.?
  • You're in a mad rush waiting for your coffee. You finally grab your order and take a sip. D'oh! It's not yours, it's someone else's and... wait a minute... it's amazing! Far tastier, richer, smoother, more expensive than your boring old latte. No one's looking, what do you do?
  • What do you hope to get out of college? (One of the answers you can select is "My parents' approval, maybe finally I'll be good enough!")
  • Would you swallow a glass of your own vomit for $100?... Now be honest... What about one million dollars?

At the end of the survey, we are offered the chance to ask a question, any question, to one of the four actresses. The best questions will be answered in an interview-type article on the website when its launched.

In an interview with BuddyTV, Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack revealed that Nicki Clyne came up with the questions and that, with the answers, they hope to know more about their demographic so that they can specialize the content to what appeals to college students nowadays. The website's aim is not really clear but Allison Mack reveals that they envisioned it "as being this really cool, interesting gathering place, with lots of the most innovative and cutting edge stuff that you can find online." It is unknown if the ladies will write articles themselves and/or hire outside help.

If you are a high school senior or to college student, you can take part in the survey.

This college-student-centered website a...
fantastic idea! It'll be my browser's home page.10 (10.9%)
good idea. I'll check it out.17 (18.5%)
Bad idea. There are other sites like that out there.24 (26.1%)
I'll wait to see the product before making up my mind.41 (44.6%)

Sarah Edmondson was the girl that played Grace Park's (Athena) girlfriend on "Edgemont" but she has never been on BSG.

Doesn't Allison Mack look like a blond Bridget of TV Squad Daily fame?

If they are teaming up to create something "really awesome", shouldn't they know what they are going to create?

I could easily say that I'm going to invent and build something that will change the course of history. I just need suggestions for what exactly to build.
