Elisabeth Hasselbeck returns to The View on Monday

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 3rd 2008 4:25PM

HasselbeckView co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is coming back to the ABC show on Monday with her new son Taylor Thomas, who I believe used to star on Home Improvement.

Hasselbeck has been on maternity leave since October and has been living in Arizona (her hubby Tim is a quarterback with the Arizona Cardinals, who didn't make the playoffs). The daytime show has been using a lot of celebrity guests to fill in Hasselbeck's seat (and/or Barbara Walters' seat, when she takes the day off from the show) including Dana Delany and Jessica Simpson (and many others, but they were the cohosts on the days I actually watched the show). This will be the first time all five hosts will be back together in a few months.

Are you excited that Elisabeth is coming back?
Yes! The show is lousy without her.210 (26.6%)
I guess so, though the fill-ins have been great.77 (9.7%)
No way, I can't stand her!438 (55.4%)

elizabeth is extremely annoying. Her voice just kind of grates on you. She is also very demeaning to others. She has an air of superiority about her and seems to look down on other people. What is her fame? I had not heard of her prior to her coming on the view. I think the show would be just fine with Whoopie and Joy. I also think Sherrie is ignorant. She says some really dumb things at times. Let's make the show good and get rid of Elizabeth and Sherrie.

the wise crack hasselbeck made on 2/20/08 about cancer refering to mr obama shows just how stupid and insensitive she can be. I have a grandmother who died from cancer and a sister and a cousin who are cancer survivors. she truly has diarrhea of the month.

My dad died from cancer, and though I don't really watch the View (except in parts on Youtube) the only reason I would is because of Elizabeth. Shes' the only one who doesn't have the typical emotionally based irrational liberal bias the network and other unstable co hosts have. They all gang up on her, and she can take it because she has facts, is strong, and can defend her views the best she can, where as the others have cynicism, volume, bitterness, and an obnoxious attitude. Liberals are like those who hate God, they grit their teeth, and almost pull their hair out when any hint of objective truth (ie something different from their views) comes past their ears. The fact that liberals ONLY want to have liberals speak on the show vs have a variety of views demonstrates the instability, insecurity, and oppressive nature to their beliefs.

I have to say the remarks on this page are horrid. I have a feeling that most of you are not liberal. Keep an open mind. So she is Republican, get over it. If you want to only hear your oppinion the lock yourself in the bathroom and talk. Until then grow up. I find that her thoughs and remarks are different and yes it gives me the a different outlook than what I am used to hearing. Keep an open mind and Grow up.

Juie,
Thank you for your frank, intelligent review of Elizabeth Hasselback. I, like you, have my own political opinions, but I do have an open mind to all the candidates. To hear Joy's loud-mouth, biased, ignorant remarks usually directed to Elizabeth are too much to take. Very obviously, the other panel members are all liberals, as are the largest percentage of responders in this column, which explains their rude, crass remarks.

In the view the person with the most wisdom and integrity is Elizabeth. Joy has contempt toward Elizabeth because she stands for what is right. Joy is the ultimate ignorant biased woman in that show. Her goal in life is to gang up on Elizabeth, to bash Bush and Christianity because she is so insecure. But at the end of the day the one who looks foolish is always Joy.

She seems to be a thirty something who has everything. I detest her talking down to the audience about money, jobs, parenting. What the hell is she doing in NY when her husband isn't.

I, like many others, will be tuning out. Joy can make a negative comment and it's funny. Elisabeth has some sort of a Republican agenda and she is NOT funny, EVER. She does have an annoying voice and her disposition is anything but pleasant. The show was fantastic each time she was on maternity leave. She is always interrupting the other hosts/guests and it becomes so disturbing that it is like fingernails on a chalkboard. She claims to be a Christian, but she has NO PEACE. I will pray for her, but I hope the network will wake up and realize that we can all find a relative to argue with! I just want to hear Whoopi, Joy, Sherri, Barbara, and their guests laugh and share news and information and give my day a LIFT!!! Also, have some respect for the intelligence of your viewers. We don't need a ranting youngster telling us about politics...many of us have been voting since long before she was born.

Today Elizabeth made a statement about Monica Lewinsky deserving the difficulty she is having finding a job and Elizabeth said, "What else would she expect."
How on earth can she justify the fact that the Clintons continue to take this country for a ride with their sleaze and manipulations and that Hillary is running for the highest office in this country and people are blind to what she really is. Read the facts in the many books and articles of the past years. I welcomed seeing her back, but this attitude is changing my mind.

I think Elizabelth is on the show because Barbara thinks of her as a daughter. Also they had the chance to get rid of her while she was in Arizona. With little media problems. I can't stand her as she thinks of herself as being just as smart as bush thinks of himself.

I am unable to understand the conversations on The View because Hasselbeck is ALWAYS TALKING, drowns out others and interrupts everyone. How is it that this upstart can share the stage with the likes of Walters and Goldberg? And have you noticed how Joy and especially Sherri have all but shut down? I would hate to think that they feel their positions threatened because Hasselbeck has returned. I too wish Hasselbeck would go away so we could hear and enjoy the show again. I won't be watching the show as often as I did. I really enjoyed watching Sherri over the last weeks. It now seems everyone is so stiff and inhibited. Did some of the other co-hosts wish Hasselbeck had stayed away too? mmmmm I wonder?

I enjoyed the View so much when Elizabeth was gone. I was hoping she'd stay home with the baby. I will no longer watch the show.
