Would you like a signed copy of Gary Coleman's pants?

Gary ColemanI'm not sure if I should make a joke here about this or just let it go because there's actually a serious reason why this is happening.

Former Diff'rent Strokes star Gary Coleman is selling his pants on eBay. He needs the money for his regular dialysis treatments. They're Gap athletic pants, khaki colored, with blue, green, and white stripes and Coleman has signed it. So far the bidding is up to a whopping ... um ... $51.00, which I don't think is what he was looking for. The bidding ends on January 7.

Sometimes I wonder about stars that were on popular shows decades ago but now find themselves looking for work. Can't they find something else to do in entertainment (if they don't want to or can't get something in another field)? It always makes me feel uneasy when stars resort to stuff like this.

I'm missing something here... why isn't his Medicare disability covering his dialysis treatments? His condition isn't new by a long shot... Now I've not been a resident of California for a while, so I don't know what he qualifies for; nevertheless, if can't recieve dialysis, he'll die.

desperate people do desperate things. god forbid anyone reading this to be in such a position. i have a fortunate life with a family, money and respect from my peers, but i can imagine what it would be like to lose it all. hell would be a better place.

Doesn't anyone remember that Gary Coleman's parents appointed themselves his managers, drew a huge salary off of his earnings from Strokes, and spent much of his money? He had to emancipate himself and soon after the money ran out. I actually feel bad for him because he really didn't get much acting work after Strokes due to being typecast and his diminutive stature. Had his parents not squandered his money away I'm sure he'd be comfortable now.

This is not a Corey Haim who spent all of his money on drugs, or an MC Hammer who spent all of his money on his entourage and marble flooring in his mansion. Give him a break.

Isn't this the kind of pathetic story that the tabloid shows you ranked #1 as the worst on TV would cover?

Quote:

1. The Insider, ET, Access Hollywood, TMZ, etc: Yes, these shows make my list every year, and they deserve to be on it every year. They're the cancer on the television landscape.

You can't say you're reporting it to help him raise money, because the point of the piece is how his actions make YOU feel.
