Desperate Housewives: Welcome to Kanagawa

I don't think Gabby will leave Carlos. She did those crappy modeling gigs when he was in jail and she wanted him back before she realized that he still had the off-shore bank account...and i suspect that Edie knows how to get into it. She was looking at the paper inside her house before Gabby came through the window and nobody talked to her in the episode.

I don't think your review was harsh at all. (although you shoulda checked the West Wing/DH Nomination...)

The only thing I didn't really care for in this episode was the fact that we still know NOTHING about the Mayfair family. A little nugget goes a long way...

actually i thought bree pimping her son was the funniest scene in this ep! the whole thing with bree and susan was great..

Mrs. McCluskey's poetry recitation at the ball field was probably the highlight of many DH shows, and was a perfect example of the many facets of people we don't bother to notice. I was so taken aback by the poem that it brought tears to my eyes; she made the words come alive. The entire ballpark scene was one of the best of the entire show from the beginning. It's so refreshing to see some character depth, development similation of reality. I'd also like to see the role of Mike better illuminated. And I'm getting tired of being taunted with the note under the bed at the Mayfair house.

Bree lost cool points with me too, actually the whole show did when Bree pimped her son. I have been a loyal watcher since episode 1, but this episode really turned me off.

Meh. I agree with everyone who said something bad about your review. Practically all of your reviews for DH are like, and if you honestly hate the show, the plotlines and the characters so much maybe you'd be better off not watching it?

I enjoyed the episode, but I'm seriously considering moving Susan back to the 'hated it' pile. That was just foul...or should I say 'desperate'.

Still mad at Lynette, and I'm glad that she is showing remorse. Hell, she should feel like crap a few more episodes. Capital C indeed.

Gaby can't win...just desperate for the sake of desperation. last night She should have some recourses on the deceased husband front--heck, in some locales, she would be mayor now! I hope the returning writers give her & Carlos a silver lining soon.

Bree was very cringe-worthy this episode. While I understood the intent, she too really towed the 'desperate' line by pimping her son like that. For the first time, I think Bree lost a cool point with me.

That happens to the be the title of a song in Steven Sondheim's 1976 musical Pacific Overtures, but that reference isn't making any sense to me.

I think your spot on. The Gabby bit was lame and over the top. "Hm, I have to find a document in this garage full of boxes. Better start randomly flipping boxes and rifling through the contents." And the "Susan feels like she's coming apart" plotline with Bree felt forced and contrived, and more like Susan trying to come up with an acceptable excuse for being an interfering mooch. If they want us to buy it, they need to lay a MUCH better foundation in the story for that kind of character faux paus.

Lastly, commenters, he can put whatever the f*ck he wants in his review: it's a BLOG, not the bloody New York Times Review of Last Night's TV.

Agreed with Hot Chick. You are reviewing DH, NOT October Road. Maybe you should check your facts too because Kathryn Joosten received an award for her role in DH in 2004.

The part about Gabby in the garage was hilarious. It was a welcome addition to the show to see her flexing her comedy muscles again. As for feeling sorry for Carlos, yes, he is now blind after thinking he was getting his money & Gabby back. You can't help who you fall in love with. They tried divorce and that still couldn't keep them apart, so yes, I think we should feel sorry for him. Gabby might leave him but she might also surprise us all because she knows that she has no money now either. They have both learned their lessons and I think this will only make them closer.

I thought this was one of the best shows of the season. There were a couple episodes earlier on which I thought were kind of boring but this one is bringing us back to DH in their first season with it revolving around the Mayfair victory. I hope that the writer's strike comes to an end soon because I can't wait for the next episode!
