I remember reading about this when this deal was made, who in there right mind would end a contract with Larry Charles? seriously!! even if he isn't coming up with ideas he is a great director! especially if ABC just contracted him to go and direct or produce a few eps of a show that needed a boost.

Is there anyway we can find out the reasons (if any, apart from the obvious less money) they ended the contracts?

If I understand this correctly, it's the development deals that are canceled, not the shows themselves.

It's routine to keep a writer (or group of writers) under a development deal where they basically are paid a certain amount to come up with and pitch ideas.

This is a separate contract than the contract to write for shows.

Now of course the question is if you've had you development deal pulled out from under you, are you going to be at all enthusiastic to go back to writing for the network/producer who canceled you development deal?

Huh, no mention of Whedon's project. That was the one I was most worried about. I'm assuming it got axed anyways.

Just to clarify, if they are listed does that mean that they no longer have a show? Or am I misunderstanding? Please Please Please tell me that "How I Met Your Mother" is *NOT* cancelled.

if the name on top of the terminated list is hugh jackman i am sure no one that important can be listed below him. Talented actor, but, lets face it via laughlin might be the worst thing ever put on television.

Whoever had the idea of casting lloyd owen (you may have seen him singing "i'm still standing" on the soup) should never get another chance.

As far as I know, these tv deals affect the production of new tv-shows created by the writer. It doesn´t affect any ongoing shows that are already up and running.
