Save The 4400 with seeds

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 22nd 2008 8:09AM

The 4400Jericho fans saved that show by mailing tons of nuts to CBS, and now fans of The 4400 want you to try something similar to save that show.

They've set up SaveThe4400.com, where you can sign a petition to save the show and also buy a 1.75 oz bag of sunflower seeds from GiantSeeds.com. Then you send them (of course) to Bonnie Hammer at USA Network headquarters in New York City. I'm sure she'll be happy to get them (cough).

Will this work? Who knows, though I do believe that the Jericho resurrection was a really rare event and networks aren't going to change their minds about show cancellations just because they get a bunch of food in the mail, so this might turn out to be more of a waste of time than anything, but as the Presidential candidates keep saying, we need change in this country, and this is one way that the American people can force change.

Besides, sunflower seeds are delicious!

Plus, there is the 'Pretender' jurisprudence (axed... then 1,2,3 movies).
Which may also come-come back...

I agree with "l'emmerdeur" (since i am one too), they've got on the air way too long and/or affected by wrong choices.
Dead Zone should have stopped at its best : season 3. Season 5 was crap, season 6 was...well, the worst reboot ever. I was hoping the two new writers would show up with great materials, not the "rip-off of the week", leading DZ six feet under after the death of the Piller Senior.

4400 was kinda great since it was struck by lighting mid-season 2. Evolving plotlines, a writer's dreams material with huge dramatic potential but not used at it should be (as DZ was ages ago), sometimes at its best, sometimes, well, at its worst.

90mn movie would wrap things great, plus, 4400 is a good worldwide dvd seller, so it could add more flavour to the broadcast release. $$, anyone ?

I don’t think its coming back but I also don’t think a movie to wrap things up is that much to ask? With a mandate that even people who only watched season 1 should be able to watch the movie and keep up with things.

The 4400 was a big hit for USA in the early days and I suspect a movie that was promoted right could draw in people who haven’t watched the show for years (therefore making it profitable for USA to do it in the first place)

We always blame people like Bonnie Hammer for deep-sixing shows that have run their course. Not every cancellation is a Farscape, though.

These shows would have been great if they had been kicked off with a limit on their runs - say, three or four seasons. The stories told by these shows don't warrant much more than that. When you leave it open ended, the show wanders and refuses to carry the main plotline forward, and people stop watching.

Good luck. I think it would be nice if they got one more season to wrap everything up.

Then, send as much walking sticks you can, to save Dead Zone as well.
Seriously, Dead Zone jumped the shark when he threw his stick on s2, with sporadic good stuff in s3. Only the premiere & season finale were valuable, since that very day.

Closing the armageddon-arc in a telefilm would be great.
Perhaps they don't deserve a full-length season, but at least 90mn each.

I've enjoyed watching The 4400 myself, but I think maybe it's run it's course. There comes a point sometimes when an idea is just stretched too far (e.g.: "Lost" after episode 8 of season 1) and should be left to finish. Maybe they could wrap it up with a one-off if people felt they needed closure.

If they do make another season, I'll be there watching it, but if they don't, I won't feel cheated.

I would agree with you, but there are too many dangling threads. One more season to finish would be nice. At least a movie...
