Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Sirens

(S05E02) "Sing for him John Kruk!" - Chrysanthemum
Wait a second... I'm going over this whole series in my my mind. Did we just get a continuation of a story line? An actual episode that picked up where last week's installment left off? Is ATHF going serial? This is madness! Sure, there are recurring characters that come back now and then, but there's never been an on-going plot that warrants two whole episodes. The one downside (it's really not all that bad), is that we went another week without Frylock, Shake, and Meatwad. But I'm sure they're having plenty of fun with Marcula's military desert spiders or whatever the hell kidnapped them.
Here's something I've never said in an ATHF review before... "picking up where we left off last week." Carl has given up on trying to rent out the Aqua Teen's house and instead turned the living room into a New York Giants clubhouse. As a result, Marcula became extremely impatient and fired Carl from his "real-estate" duties.
Then the Sirens moved in.
Beautiful, talented, singing ghost ladies who like talking dirty and having pillow fights. Essentially, they're Carl's dream neighbors. Not so fast though. Their names:
-
Chrysanthemum
-
The BJ Queen
-
John Kruk
Yes, John Kruk. As in ex-Philadelphia Philly John Kruk. As in Baseball Tonight John Kruk. And it was him too. His name was listed in the credits. Hilarious. They kidnapped him, dressed him up like a girl, and then they peeled his skin off. Sounds about par for the course if you're going to lend both your likeness and voice talents to an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Overall, a great episode and it really was because of Kruk. Obviously, I wasn't expecting anything like that. I laughed hysterically when Carl got drunk and sliced off his own nipples (only on this show) and I loved the fact that Marcula claimed them as his own. Carl's proclivity for 300 lb. cheerleader porn came as no surprise, but I think my favorite moment was when Marcula busted Carl for drilling peep-holes in the side of the house and Carl claimed he was installing speakers. Marcula's response?
"Good call. I want this side yard to reek of sound."
