"Indecision 2008": Big news! John Edwards and Rudy Giuliani have both dropped from the race. Edwards fixed up his hair and delivered a speech to say good-bye and Giuliani, accompanied by his supporters and funny eyebrows, dropped out in Florida. He also got an earful from the media for putting all his eggs in the Florida basket, whatever that means.
The graphics department is obviously having loads of fun making weird visual gags in the absence of the writers. I mean, just take a look at that ridiculous Dildo Johnson picture. Some person gets to come into the studio everyday and make Dildo Johnson graphics for Jon Stewart. One of the best jobs ever? I think so. However, I don't know how comfortable I'd be making that creepy 9/11 sex graphic.
Senior Political Correspondent John Oliver, looking super sharp in a varsity sweater and B&W, reported from Mitt Romney's HQ, which is in Pleasantville, evidently. I enjoy how often Jon is visibly impressed by John Oliver. Ah, bless his English heart and funny observations about old-fashioned bras.
The night's guest was The Wall Street Journal's Peggy Noonan. The discussion was all about Edwards and Giuliani bowing out and what that means for the other candidates. It was a pretty good interview and allowed Jon to share some of his speculation as to why Edwards dropped out. I'd like to think that Jon is right and Edwards has some serious, deep-set loathing towards Clinton and is pushing for Obama for that reason only. It's more fun with drama.
Moment of Zen: CNN gets awkward in the Reagan Library.
