A Daily Show: February 5, 2008
First of all, anyone that missed Monday's episode, needs to read up and watch some videos as quickly as possible. Contrary to what Jon said, it was most definitely not "the stupidest f*cking thing anyone's ever seen", because it was epic and I couldn't get enough. I absolutely didn't mind that it was just silly writers' strike period filler. Man, forget Super Tuesday coverage, I wanted to see more people to get thrown down stairs. "Super Tuesday": Alas, the election season cannot be ignored and late night TV feuds must be set aside. Did the news channels lose their writers too? Because "Super Duper Tuesday", "Super Fat Tuesday" and "Monster Super Tuesday" are just sad. Maybe if "Monster Super Tuesday" had been a little more Cloverfield-esque, things would have been better. And you know what? Ted Kennedy really does look like a retired lesbian gym teacher.
John Oliver reported from the streets of New York, covering some of the joyous mayhem happening all around the city. Of course, the excitement had little to do with Super Tuesday and more to do with the Super Bowl, because, well, who gives a crap about democracy anyway? I love it when satire comes together so naturally, when the comedian doesn't have to write anything, but just point a camera at a crowd as if to say, "Look".
The night's guest was FOX News Sunday's Chris Wallace, not to be confused with another, very different Chris Wallace. Wallace surprised everyone when he said that Karl Rove will officially join FOX News. I'm so glad Jon didn't shy away from making those Rove jokes. To put it lightly, Rove makes my soul sob into its invisible arms. Wallace also shared that Hillary Clinton broke the Democrat stereotype by agreeing to go on FOX News for a debate on Monday. I'm excited to see what fodder this is going to provide for next week.
Jon/Stephen: The boys talked a little about last night's totally epic three-show brawl with Conan O'Brien. Honestly, I'm still not over it. Moment of Zen: Some great moments from brawl. I think I've watched the videos at least ten times each and I still crack up when Stephen jumps into frame to shout, "You son of a bitch!" up the stairs.
