Sex and the City movie and fashion news

Sex and the CityIt's been a little over two months since we last reported about the Sex and the City movie here at TV Squad. Therefore, it is time to bring you up to speed with the latest happenings since the first trailer was released in early December.

A few days ago, New Line Cinema, via their official SatC blog, posted the hi-res version teaser poster they released mid-January (see picture on the right) of the romantic comedy set to be released on May 30.

Sadly, not much new information has been released about the movie since I gave you the latest crop of spoilers. During a preview of the clothes the ladies will wear in the movies, designer Patricia Field dished a bit about where the ladies stand when fashion is concerned:
  • Charlotte's style is more grown up. The designer says that she is "a bit more Jackie O" and that "she's calmed down a bit, grown."
  • Samantha is bigger and bolder in the movie and this will be reflected in her clothing choices.
  • Miranda evolved the most fashion-wise. Field says Miranda's style is now "Park Avenue WASPY."
  • The designer didn't reveal much about Carrie's clothing style but it seems that she will remain a "very eclectic fashion-surprise girl," as Field said at the event. Carrie's clothes will mostly be new but her famous fur coat will make a cameo in the movie. In interview, the designer described the famous wedding dress as a "very ornate cupcake wedding dress." Cupcake? We don't have the same definition for that word!

In interview with the L.A. Daily News, series producer-writer Michael Patrick King revealed that the four ladies are in realistic relationships in the movie, which takes place three years after the series finale. Other articles reveal that Samantha will have a dog and that Mr. Big will get a last name.

The official SatC movie website offers a teaser (nothing new there if you saw the one released in December), a spoiler-less synopsis and a few pictures to keep you waiting for the theatrical release.

Speaking of Sex and Cities, I just posted a webcomic on how S&tS's concept has been regurgitated into a plethora of other (considerably crappier) programs.
