Second batch of Lost episodes will follow Grey's Anatomy

by Erin Martell, posted Feb 13th 2008 5:01PM

Ken LeungWhen Lost's post-strike episodes come out later this spring, they will air after Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights. TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting that ABC's new Thursday schedule will feature Grey's in its previous time slot of 9pm ET (in which Lost currently airs), with Lost in the 10pm time slot. These changes will take effect in late April, once both shows have completed new, post-strike episodes.

This announcement does impact Lost's current run, however. Instead of airing all eight pre-strike episodes in a row, the plan is for the show to take a month-long break after Episode Seven. Apparently the producers felt that this was a better way to separate each block of episodes. The first installment of the season will end in mid-March, and the show will return with new episodes in late April. If the new schedule is successful, we could end up with a permanent Ugly Betty-Grey's-Lost lineup on Thursdays. How does that sound?

It sounds good to me, the Fiance is going to want to watch Grey's so she can have her show and then can't complain when i want to watch mine :)

My only problem is that I'm a fan of ALL three shows and thus I will be a couch potato for 3 hours on Thursday.

Sounds like heaven.

Guys, what ABC is doing here is placing Lost in it's next best possible spot so the show can succeed.

The network is not giving up it's best timeslot when Grey's Anatomy comes back. It would be too much of a risk ratings-wise to leave Lost there. ABC has proven that they can compete with CBS opposite CSI. Why risk slipping when both Grey's and CSI come back with fresh episodes?

As for the show airing at 9pm...where else would it air?

Monday? Nope...ABC is keeping the timeslot warm for its other blockbuster, Dancing With the Stars.

Tuesday or Wednesday? It would be KILLED by American Idol.

Friday or Saturday? Who watches tv on those nights anymore?

Sunday? If Desperate Housewives comes back, then it too resumes its prime timeslot. Besides...is Lost really a Sunday night show?

I hate to throw water on all of the people complaining, but remember...tv is a BUSINESS. ABC is only trying to keep one of its best assets in a competitive position.

We all know that the loyal fans will follow the show, either watching live or via DVR. What the move to 10pm eastern/9pm central does is open the show up to more casual viewers...the ones who might keep their tvs tuned to ABC following Grey's Anatomy. At least that's what ABC is hoping for.

Nathaniel, I'm not trying to be nosy or flippant, but college kids really go to bed before 11 PM these days? Wow, when I went I never went to bed before like 1AM, I aways stayed up towatch Carson and at least the first half of Letterman's old NBC show. Even when I had an 8AM class. Of course, maybe that's why my grades weren't very good?

Anyway, I' still a night person, so 10PM is fine for me. I do watch Without a Trace at 10, but I think they're out of new shows for now and besides I always tape Lost anyway. Thursday night is a very busy tv night, I've got Survivor, Supernatural, Lost and WAT. But, it gives something to watch on the weekend.

I agree. It's way too much to ask someone who's apparently a big enough fan to post displeasure on the internet to extend their bedtime one hour once a week. That 10:30 bedtime is set in stone.

For me, the earlier LOST airs the better. 10/9 central is just too late for my tastes and I, too, have a job and don't like to watch that late.

I'm definitely in the 9 o'clock camp. 10 is past my bedtime! I have early classes! Air it at 9 and people like Mike can DVR it and watch it at 9, too. But 10 is too late!

I don't mind what time Lost is on because I always DVR it and watch it the hour after it airs so I don't have to sit through the commercials. Lost on Thursday is better than going up against AI on Wednesday. Also, even though the ratings don't matter in terms of the show's future, execs still care about them and don't want Lost going against AI. I don't want Lost going against AI because I want as many people that can to watch Lost.
