Big Brother 9: live feeds report - Feb.14

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Feb 14th 2008 10:23AM
Natalie from Big Brother 9It's Valentine's Day in the Big Brother 9 House o' Love! Aw, isn't that just so darn sweet, kind of like a fluffy kitten or something? Oh, but this report actually covers the events leading into the day, so the houseguests haven't really been struck by Cupid yet. Oh ... and there isn't a heck of a lot of love going around in the house either.

But besides that, it's Valentine's Day in the House o' Love!

There have been some unusual changes in the house since my last report. Beware -- there will be show spoilers after the jump! However, there are no spoilers in the photo gallery below, just some candid moments from the feeds.

There's been one change the likes of which I've never seen on the show before. Normally I'd call the nominations the big news of the report, but this time that's not the biggest news.

The big news is ... Sharon (of the recently evicted Sharon and Jacob) is back. Neil is gone. Sharon is now partnered with Joshuah.

Yeah, you heard me. I'm not making it up. I wouldn't lead you on that way. Sharon, who probably could have done well enough in the game had it not been for Jacob, is back in the running. Neil was a bit of a nonentity and it's Joshuah who's more into really playing the game. Somehow Neil had some sort of family (?) emergency and had to go home? So Sharon took his place?

This is all too contrived for me to believe. First off, the eviction of Sharon and Jacob took place Saturday night and wasn't announced to the world until last night. Usually the evictions are live and the evicted get interviewed all over the internet. That didn't happen here. I personally think that they kept her in sequester just for the return. No way would there have not been a whisper from her and Jacob if they were out in the world. I bet we'll see Jacob interviews out there soon. Something's very fishy with all of this. Was the gay coupling not a hit? After all, they were the ones who got along best! I guess we'll have to see what the show says about the Sharon return/Neil exit.

Oh ... and the nominations were in right about the time the show aired on the east coast last night. There were no surprises for me there. Ryan/Allison and Jen/Parker are up on the block. Of those two couples, I'd rather see Jen and Parker stay as I find Ryan very obsessive jealous and just a touch creepy. It's too bad that Allison is paired up with him. Just like the Jacob/Sharon pairing, one partner will bring the other down. I don't think they can come up with another reason for a miraculous return of an evicted houseguest, though. So, whatever couple goes this time, I'm sure they'll be gone.

In other house tidbits and observations:
  • Amanda told Jen that if there is a tie, she and Alex would vote Ryan out. Well, vote out Ryan and Allison.
  • Matt said something about the show being scripted and the feeds got blocked. He said it because BB told them to be more serious as they were at the table awaiting nominations. They had been laughing and joking.
  • Jen and Ryan have turned on each other. Jen repeatedly is telling others that Ryan is only there because she wanted to be on the show. He never applied and was recruited because of her.
  • Matt and Parker continue to be close. Matt thinks that Amanda is running the show. Parker said that Alex didn't talk to him before the nominations. I will inject that Amanda's been all over Parker since day one (of the feeds anyway). If she's running the show, Parker is going nowhere.
  • Parker thinks he and Jen will go home if they don't win PoV.
  • James doesn't like Jen, so will probably vote for Ryan to stay.
  • Joshuah told Allison that Amanda wants her and Ryan voted out.
  • The feeds got blocked and Neil vanished, Sharon appeared. Yikes!
  • Upon her return, Sharon told everyone that Jacob heard Ryan say Parker is a snake and that all started up again. It's third grade time in the house once again!
  • Parker thinks he will end up getting voted out because Jen talks too much and is dumb.
  • The HG are suspicious about the Neil leave, Sharon return. They think Neil was very into being with Joshuah and question it all because Sheila had a fit and tried to go home a few days ago. BB talked her into staying. (I'm very suspicious, too!)
  • Joshuah told Sharon that if they get rid of Ryan, it will hurt the alliance he's made. He told her she has to move forward and be on the same page with him.
  • Ryan and Jen kissed and made up again. I'm sure it won't last as they both campaign to stay in the house.
  • And, sure enough ... Sharon told the others she and Jacob were sequestered in a hotel, not a sequester house, after the eviction. They pondered whether all the evicted couples will be sequestered, then BB called her to the Diary Room. Hmm ... was she not supposed to talk about what happened outside of the house while she was gone? I don't think BB likes that!
And there you go. With the show nights changed about and the couplings, I'm not sure of the time frame for Power of Eviction, food comps, or anything. The houseguests seem to know as much as I know about the schedule of events. But I'll surely report to you when they go down!

Do you think Neil really had a family emergency?
Yes, I hope all is okay!188 (33.9%)
No, completely set up to bring back Sharon!367 (66.1%)

When Sharon was paired with Jacob, I thought it was very unfair to her. She had next to no chance of winning when they did that. At least in the past when they had couples, it was several to make it play out more fairly. Also, I thought it very tactless to have a gay couple. Whose to say they wanted to all of America to know they were gay....and possibly if they were quiet about their orientation, they already had a partner. I'm guessing Neil objected and wanted off the show and Sharon objected so they put her back on...all to avoid litigation or bad press, or possibly payoffs.

How did it never cross Jen's mind in the three years that she's been apparently auditioning for BB that she might actually have to vote for or evict Ryan? How did it never cross her mind even once she knew they were going into the house together? They've said they talked about their "secret alliance" but it never came up that they'd vote for each other or possibly evict each other?

The other HGs seem to think they have an advantage over everyone else, but I don't see it. If the only strategy they discussed was being a secret team together, that's pretty much out the window and they don't seem to be adapting very well on the fly.

How convenient that the guy who as a family emergency is the guy that was paired with the only bisexual guy... What would be the chance of that? I was gonna watch for the gay couple, but now... Forget about it, I'm not waisting 3+ hours a week on this!

As a big fan who has seen every episode, I can honestly say this season is BY FAR the worst yet. The cast of characters is the biggest compilation of trash I have ever witnessed. The trailer park queen atop this mountain of white trash is Sharon. I was initially overjoyed and relieved when they gave her nasty ass the boot. That joy quickly turned into sour disappointment and bitter hatred when the skank was brought back. She is better suited for an episode of Maury or the Jerry Springer show. Her ghetto language, endless sassy neck rolls, and obsessive hand talking are already making me want to shut the television off. Again, as someone who has been a religious viewer of Big Brother, I can honestly say I might not make it through this season if some of these ghetto rats aren't gone soon. Please lord, don't let this happen!!!

I'm thrilled BB is back-but disappointed in the whole "love" premise. It's way too high schoolish for me. I sure do wish that BB and CBS would read some of the blogs on the net and listen to the fans just a bit. The reason the earlier seasons were so much better is because the house guests were a variety of ages and personalities and some of the earlier houseguests actually had a brain-and played the game. These people are all just kids-except for the middle-aged hooker type broad-and they seem to have all decided that this is the place to come to get drunk, have sex and for the women, a place to meet Mr. Right-who frankly, does NOT exist in this house!!!!!! I enjoyed BB because of the strategies and the alliances and the game play-that's why I was a huge Evil Dick fan-like him or hate him, he PLAYED THE GAME! I sure hope it gets better and I surely hope that the summer show is better than this! But, as always, THANK YOU Jackie for the great job of keeping us in the loop :)))))))

I watched last night and thought to myself, this may be the worst season to date.

Like mentioned elsewhere, it's more Real World than Big Brother.

The whole Sharon thing...well honestly, I think something made Neil leave and I don't think it was Big Brother. It looks suspicious, yes, but it's too suspicious to be real. Also, I thought they gave Josh the option of which one to bring back, and he said Sharon as opposed to Jacob. And also, he then proceeded to cry like a baby after Niel left.

Also, Sharon has basically defended Jacob, and discussed their relationship, and seems to miss him, with, of all people, Parker.

as for v-day, Ryan and Jen had sex in the bathroom. happy valentines day! lol. It was oh so creepy.

I would think that, because it wasn't a live eviction that they would have sequestered Sharon and Jacob at a hotel, with no interviews, etc. until the show with the eviction aired. So, I don't think that necessarily proves planning of Neil leaving. I was only watching because of the gay "couple" thing, so probably won't pay much attention past this.
