The Apprentice: Piers Vs. Trace - VIDEO

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Mar 24th 2008 4:42PM
The Celebrity ApprenticeThis coming Thursday, NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice will come to an end. Either the arrogant Brit or the American Cowboy will hear the words "You're hired."

In an unsurprising move, Donald Trump decided in last week's episode to have Piers Morgan and Trace Adkins face off during the final task. This decision goes against that of CNBC's Erin Burnett and Jim Cramer, brought on to interview the Top 4 contestants, but The Donald knew better than to have Carol Alt and Trace as the final two contestants. Both are really good contestants and played a clean game but, let's admit it, a live finale with Carol and Trace is not as promising as a Piers and Trace one ratings-wise.

Piers has been a fierce competitor from the start. He knew he had what it took to win the game and was vocal about it. Like him or not, Piers brought flavor to the show. Without him, The Celebrity Apprentice would have been less entertaining. He gave us the Piers and Omarosa debacle, Stephen Baldwin almost quit the show because of Piers, he had The Sopranos' Vincent Pastore infiltrate the women's team, and so much more! Piers also raised a lot of money for the game; he is the celebrity who brought in the most cash.

Trump could have fired Piers many times but he knew that ratings and watercooler chatter would be affected by it. Therefore, Trump protected the America's Got Talent judge and even gave him a spot in the final two, saying over and over again that he wanted a U.S. vs. U.K. face off.

As for the cowboy, Trace played a clean game. He may not have been as talkative as Piers but Trace stepped up when he had to (e.g., when he had to host that QVC segment without rehearsals) and was a team player throughout all tasks. Even if he is a quiet player, Trace offered us some fun moments: His non-verbal expressions when dealing with the Backstreet Boys last week were priceless!

Personally, I don't know who should win. Piers probably played the best game but it was an ugly one. Trace was not always 100% involved in the tasks but played a clean game. The winner will be announced this Thursday during the two-hour live finale of the show on NBC.

Who should win The Celebrity Apprentice?
Piers Morgan187 (42.4%)
Trace Adkins254 (57.6%)

Carol Alt was screwed. She should of been in the finally. If Trump couldn't have made a decision, he should of let all three of them battle it out in the finial. Even though everyone that watches this show knows that he only keeps the people around who will bring in the ratings, he could have at least shown Ms. Alt some respect and not just completely fire her without letting her speak. She even knew that that was the reason for it. At least in my head, Carol Alt will the the winner of the apprentice this season (like she should have).

Piers Morgan, ironically, got fired by Sir Alan Sugar in the UK Comic Relief Celebrity Apprentice.

What for, you ask? Well...they had tickets to sell to a big fundraiser, and he thought he'd have bankers buy tickets to make a million dollars, and his plan fell through. He wasn't project manager, but instead of calling in celebrities, like the girls did, Piers swayed the men into something that failed, and he got the boot.

Now, he has to sell tickets to THIS event, and once again, he relies on Stephen, who isnt willing, and himself, to sell tickets to celebrities. Will he get celebrities at the event? My money says no. Which means, unless he changed his thought process after getting fired by Sir Alan, he's about to get fired by the Donald.

We shall see....but I still think Piers should win. If anything, because he is the best of the season. Hands down, Piers should be victorious.

And for someone who "wasn't affected" by the "mean" comment... Piers brought it up an awful lot last week didn't he?

That was hilarious! Nick (yes, I know his name!) looked dead serious when he asked about wheat grass. His facial expressions made it look as if not having wheat grass could be a deal breaker!!!

My wife and I watched last weeks and we had to pause the show when Trace was dealing with the BSBs...it was the funniest thing we have ever seen! Those BSBs are a bunch of whiny kids!

The sad thing is that they are not kids anymore. That scene with Trace asking about the list surely made them look self-centered and materialistic.

As much as I love Trace, I must say "GO PIERS!"

No, he didn't play the cleanest game, but as he said it best when he told Donald that he didn't get where he is by playing nice!
