Elisha Cuthbert cast on CBS romantic comedy

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 27th 2008 5:25PM
Elisha CuthbertJack Bauer's daughter is trading in angst for romance. Actress Elisha Cuthbert has been cast on the CBS pilot Ny-Lon. That's the one-hour romantic-drama-with-comedy based on the British series of the same name that aired on the Channel 4 TV in 2004 (only there it was called NY-LON; apparently the American version is initial cap only).

In Ny-Lon, Elisha plays Edie Miller, a free-spirited, New Yorker who works in a record store and also moonlights as a literacy teacher. On a trip to London, she meets a British stock broker, Michael. Their whirlwind romance leads to their deciding to try a cross-continental love affair. In the UK show, Rashida Jones, currently on Unhitched, but also well-known as Karen on The Office, played the role of Edie.

Elisha's not the only casting notice for Ny-Lon. Edie's wild, unconventional rock 'n roll roommate will be Caterina Scorsone (1-800-Missing), and Johnny Whitworth will play Edie's ex, a musician. You might recognize Whitworth as a semi-regular on CSI: Miami (Detective Jake Berkeley), as well episodes of CBS's Without A Trace, Cold Case and Numb3rs. Somebody at CBS likes him.

Elisha's become a favorite thanks to 24, and has been busy doing features including the upcoming My Sassy Girl and The Six Lives of Henry Lefay with Tim Allen.

I've never really liked the blonde hair.

She kind of .. sucked, at least on "24." She almost made me stop watching it. She's attractive, but I guess that's not enough for me.

I disagree, it wasn't Elisha who sucked on 24, it was Kim. They introduced her as Jacks daughter in season 1 and then they kept bringing her back season after season when there was no need. She became a filler character that didn't really fit with the relevance of the seasons.

I've met her a couple times, she's not. She's pleasant, funny and kind. She was more than willing to take the time to answer some questions and sign an autograph.

The other time, I was seated next to her at a hockey game. Not only did she remember me, but she was nothing but polite and courteous, and more than willing to have a candid conversation.

I don't care if the writing is terrible. If Elisha Cuthbert is on air, I'll tune in.
