Dancing With The Stars: Week 4 results

by Brett Love, posted Apr 8th 2008 11:30PM

Samantha Harris and the kids of Dancing With The Stars
(S06E08) Another week, another results show. But this is no ordinary, run of the mill, results show. After three weeks of keeping the bottom two a secret, this week we finally get an idea of just how that fan vote is going. Even with no prior knowledge of what the fans have been doing with vote, the big question was pretty obvious. Did Adam and Julianne have a big enough fan vote to overcome the 19 from performance night? Along for the ride this week was musical guest Sheryl Crow, and the debut of Dancing With The Little Kids. All that, and more, after the jump.

Breaking from the norm, Tom and Samantha tossed it right to Sheryl Crow performing "All I Wanna Do" to kick off the show. What a great song. The crowd erupted as Tony, Edyta, Fabian, and Kym appeared to perform. As you would expect, given a performer of Sheryl's stature, she dominated the camera. This is one of the few times that I won't complain about the dancers getting shorted on camera time though, because I've been a fan of Sheryl Crow for years and years. For what they did get, it was another fun pro performance. It's not your typical ballroom song, so we were treated to more of a freestyle and showy number. I'm glad to see Fabian getting involved with these performances. Being new, it's important to get him out in front of the camera.

A quick recap followed the musical number, with reactions from the couples. Kristi & Mark were thrilled with their 29, singing "10, 9, 10." Marlee resolved to work on her bum this week, referring to the judge's critique. Priscilla said that she likes the feeling of both of her legs up off the floor, even if it is against the rules. Jason & Edyta were also thrilled with a 29. Mario & Karina were hoping the fans didn't see things the way Len did. Marissa was hoping to still be in the competition next week because she is having a great time. Cristian explained why he needed to be bigger than the bull. Shannon sang her own song, "9, 10, 9, no 8s, who do we appreciate? Len!" Julianne said, "Screw the judges!" and Adam joked, "If you want to get us some higher scores... that's an idea."

As they moved to the encore, Len said that all three of them wanted a different couple for the encore and they just couldn't agree. However, he added, the one thing they could agree on was that for pure entertainment, they all wanted to see Adam & Julianne again. I was hoping to see Shannon & Derek again, but it's hard to ever complain about more Julianne. The performance was much the same as on performance night, but I think actually fit a little better with the results show.

Samantha was backstage with Marissa. She said that it felt really good last night getting the reaction from the crowd and judges. Turning to Shannon & Derek, Samantha brought up the chemistry between the pair. Shannon said that if they had got the encore, they would have done the kiss at the end of their dance. After a run through the leader board, it was time to get to some results. In no particular order, naturally, the first couple moving on to week five was Jason & Edyta. They were soon joined by Kristi & Mark. No surprises at all there.

Tom and Samantha then explained that they were going to give some kids the chance to dance in front of the judges. First up were Aaron & Daniella, 9 and 8 years old respectively, and just made of cute. They came out to perform the samba. The fist thing that strikes you is that they are absolutely adorable. Once you get past that, you realize they're also really good. They just toss out all of these intricate steps like little dancing machines.

Tom took a knee to interview them and let them know that when he was their age, he was eating paste. Len said that he was bitterly disappointed, because it was too short. Great job. Bruno said it was so much fun. Adding that Daniella looked like a little tropical goldfish. Carrie Ann said that she couldn't stop smiling, calling Daniella a little firecracker.

Next up were Aaron & Rashell, both eight years old. Aaron had a great line, describing Rashell with the phrase, "Sometimes she doesn't annoy me." They were doing the pasa doble. Much like the earlier couple, absolutely amazing to see eight year old kids perform these steps.

Tom remarked at how they just aren't nervous, and asked about the dating rumors that were all over TMZ.com. Bruno said that they might be small, but they are an enormous firepower. He also praised their acting. Carrie Ann said she completely loved it. Len thought it was sharp and precise, full of fire and passion.

I have to say, the kids are a great addition to the results show. Very entertaining. After a break the judges voted to bring one of the couples back later in the season. Carrie Ann chose Aaron & Rashell. Len chose Aaron & Daniella. Bruno chose Aaron & Rashell. I think it could have gone either way. It was a very impressive performance from both teams.

With that, Sheryl Crow was back with a single from her new album. I would have picked one of her many hits, given the choice, but this was a good song. She was joined by visiting pros Delyan Terziev and Boriana Deltcheva. They put on a high energy performance with some incredible moves. My only complaint would be with ABC. If you are going to invite pros to the show, throw them, and the viewer, a bone and put their names on the screen. Now, I follow ballroom dancing closer than the average bear, but when you toss out names like Delyan Terziev and Boriana Deltcheva, even I can't begin to spell them. Their combined efforts were rewarded with a standing ovation.

Taking a little break from the live action, we were tossed to a package about the pros performing with the musical guests. Tony talked about how great it is to perform with the live acts. Apparently they only find out who gets to do the dance four days before the performance. With their schedule with the celebrities they have very little time to put the performances together and don't really get to do a full rehearsal until performance day. After Derek's injury, they only had 45 minutes to teach Mark the routine. I'm left wondering just what they would come up with given more time, and more impressed than ever by what they do each week.

I could complain here that they managed to get fifty minutes into the results show and only give us the results for three couples, but I didn't notice it had been that long until they went to the commercial and I saw the clock on my computer. It really was a jam packed, well paced, results show. Getting back to the results, Marlee & Fabian were put through to the next round. And then it was back to Samantha, backstage with Kristi & Mark and Jason & Edyta. Samantha tried to play up the rivalry between the two of them, given their scores this week, but they weren't having much of that. They were both very complimentary of each other.

Back to the results, and two more couples were moving on. Cristian & Cheryl will start training for week five, along with Mario & Karina. One more commercial break and it was time to get down to it. Priscilla & Louis were in the bottom two. I can't be the only one surprised by that turn of events. Shannon & Derek were safe. Adam & Julianne were in the bottom two, leaving Marissa & Tony safe.

Len talked about how Adam has been great fun to have. Bruno said that if Priscilla leaves they would lose a great sense of sophistication and glamor. Asked who should be back, Carrie Ann said she was curious to see if Julianne could turn Adam into a dancer, but Priscilla is the better dancer. In the end, Adam and Julianne were sent home. The 19 was just too low for their fans to overcome.

In what I thought was one of the better exit interviews we've seen, Adam said he had a great time. He lost 25 pounds of fat, and gained 105 pounds of angel. He said he recommends this to anyone that has something that scares them. Not everyone can be on Dancing With The Stars, but if you have something that scares you, go for it. It was probably his time to go, but his wit and humor will be missed. Julianne said Adam is amazing and a really great guy.

Next week, our pal Erin will be back as the remaining eight couples take to the ballroom again. In the meantime, check out AOL's extensive Dancing With The Stars coverage, which includes photo galleries, polls, and a live chat.

What was most surprising about the results show?
Adam going home.43 (7.4%)
Priscilla in the bottom two.168 (29.1%)
Marissa safe and not in the bottom two.256 (44.3%)
Just how absolutely adorable those kids were.111 (19.2%)

I think priscilla Presley is a sore loser and she seems to think she can have her own rules, her comment on doing further lifts if she wants to was kind os snooty to me.
If you don't want to abide by the rules than you shouldn't be there.

Priscilla is accustomed to having her own way but I think she should concentrate on her dancing. She can do it if she puts her mind on it and listens to Louis.

Priscilla may be a bit arrogant, but Louis' remarks about the judges being consistant were spot on. Karina and mario did TWO blatant lifts and not a mention was made.

Is there anything that little Julianne can't do? Have any of you heard her new single, That Song In My Head? If you got to her site (http://www.juliannehough.com/), it's plays automatically. She has an amazing voice.

I also heard she's singing the National Anthem at this year's Indy 500. Gee...I wonder how she got that gig! :-)

I'm gonna miss seeing her!

I have never voted before, but I did vote for Adam on line. Although he was the worst dancer, he was taking it seriously despite the constant cracks.

I hated Adam before this show and now I'm very disappointed he is gone. I would rather see how Adam ended up after more time than to see any of the other middle of the pack guys do the same thing week after week. Ho-hum BORING!

Adam's 105lb angel line has got to be the smoothest line ever. And I'm sad to see both of them to go.
