Star Jones files for divorce

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 23rd 2008 3:22PM
star jonesStar Jones filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Al Reynolds. I really wouldn't bother typing this up if Jones hadn't made such a big deal about her wedding back when she was on The View. Remember the whole, painful ordeal? Star would not shut up about her over-the-top wedding, and the sponsors she had lined up for it. According to Barbara Walters, Star's disgusting behavior surrounding her wedding was the reason her contract was not renewed with ABC. It turns out the viewers didn't want to hear another word about her over-hyped event.

Here's her official statement about the divorce:

"Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce."

Is she really blaming the media for her divorce? Because a marriage isn't actually based on the wedding. Star also says she's going to handle her divorce with dignity and come out "a wiser woman". Somehow I doubt that.

her error in judgement was thinking that her husband was actually straight.

She's not blaming the media, she's saying that she shouldn't have made it (wedding) so public.

GAWD, why am I posting about this, oh yeah, I hate when people make themselves better than others and ridicule them.

So what do you think she'll look like without her beard?

I stink, she's the beard. That's what happens when you try to wallow in some one else's sorrow.

Did anyone actually think this would work! Not a chance! Not keep her out of the news, we don't need to hear about her.

Why are we just now hearing about this now and not 1 month ago when she filed for the divorce. The media dropped the ball on that one. Usually we hear about stuff like this the next day. We could have been laughing at this news 1 month ago. Rick, I thought she found this one pushing a shopping cart full of alum cans late one night while trolling the park and took him home and cleaned him up.

Is the guy she married the one that supposedly was gay at one point and she "converted" him or something? Or was that the author of How Stella Got her Groove Back? I can't remember.

Anyway, take this as a lesson ladies. No matter how snazzy a dresser your gay friend is, he isn't marriage material.

She did open herself up to the media by getting sponsors, continuously discussing the marriage, opening up a website, etc. It's scrutiny that she invited, but also continued afterwards w/ insinuations about Al ;) Evidently too much publicity does not equal happiness (in any world). And,sure, she should've kept quiet. But I feel sorry for her, as clearly she underwent cosmetic surgery and consistently placed her job in danger for this man (even tho' anyone would let his potential mate do either is slightly suspect). So, while the writing was on the wall and her castles built out of sand, I think maybe the possibility of getting married outweighed the actuality of afterwards for her. So, using every ounce of my girlie sympathy, I doff my unbypassed hat to SJ -
