Nielsen ratings for the week ending April 27

Rules of EngagementHere are the weekly TV ratings, by number of viewers.

OK, can someone explain to me why Lost, which returned after several weeks away with an important (and great) episode, only came in #15 in viewers this week? This season it has been showing up in the top 10 a lot, sometimes even in the top 5 or 6, and now it slips to 15? Gah.

In other news, I finally watched Rules of Engagement this week. It's actually a funny show.

1. American Idol - Tues (FOX)
2. American Idol - Weds (FOX)
3. Dancing with the Stars - Mon (ABC)
4. Dancing with the Stars - Tues (ABC)

5. CSI (CBS)
6. Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
7. Desperate Housewives (ABC)
8. CSI: Miami (CBS)
9. NCIS (CBS)
10. Without A Trace (CBS)
11. Two and a Half Men (CBS)
12. Law and Order (NBC)

I still don't understand where that rumor that CSI would have it's finale season next year. It's the number one written show.

NCIS is in the top ten again and no love from TV Squad. So sad. Quality story telling is over looked for reality crap and just plain crap.

Because the fans started whining about 10:00 being too late for them when the time change was announced. So they record it and watch it at a later date, which doesn't get counted in the ratings.

Market research, which networks obviously are unaware of the concept, has shown that 10PM is best for formulaic dramas that people can fall asleep watching; Lost being serialized requires brain function and obviously does better at 9.

Looks like Jesse Martin's final L&O got the ratings they were hoping for. The original L&O usually doesn't show up in the top 20, does it?

Shame to see him go. I wonder if this week's Robin Williams stuntcasting on SVU will bump it, as well.

I agree about Lost, it was one of the best episodes of the last two seasons!

Well it did move timeslots from the friendlier 9pm to the more challenging 10pm. And then there's the influx of more popular shows returning (Greys, Desperate).

It kicks ass in the key demos, so ABC is more than happy.
