Desperate Housewives: Mother Said

(S04E15) "Do you love Kayla?" - Dr. Joshua Dolan to Lynette
"Mother Said" was quite the eventful episode since it pushed forward all of the ladies' storylines and dealt with two big secrets: Benjamin's and Dylan's parents. It also featured scenes of the four main characters together, which we haven't seen much lately.
Gaby
Even if the Ellie storyline is not the most innovative out there, it at least got more meat this week and got a tad more interesting. For once, Carlos and Gabrielle did the right thing up front and went to the police when they discovered Ellie's business was not a tattoo parlor nor a pastry shop. The Mother's Day gift Ellie gave to Gaby cemented their friendship, thus making it more difficult for Gaby to lie to Ellie so the police can get the information they are looking for. It wouldn't surprise me if Gaby chickens out at the last minute and makes the entire sting fall.
Susan
How annoying was Mike's mother? Susan may have her faults but it was just plain harsh for Adele to list them all in such a superior tone. I had a hard time buying that Adele is Mike's mother. She felt cartoony and her Southern accent was so thick compared to how Mike speaks. I didn't expect Mike to vent like this about Susan to his mother. Then again, Adele does seem to have control over her dear son so she probably knows how to make him spill the beans. I was happy that Susan got her way in the end and made Mike confront his mother.
Now that Susan gave birth, we can move on to storylines of Mike learning how to be a father and Susan actually acting as a mother to one of her children.
Lynette
My hunch from last week is true: Kayla is indeed the Devil's spawn! It's frightening how manipulative she is at such a age. Slapping a child is never the answer but Kayla got it coming for saying such things to Lynette and acting that way. Now that Kayla lied to Dr. Dolan and said that Lynette hit her many times before, the Scavos' household will be divided once again and will require weeks of therapy. Tom will want to protect both Kayla and Lynette but he'll surely wonder if Lynette did hit Kayla more than that one time at the mall. I can't wait to see how that unfolds. Personally, I hope that Children Services decides that it's best for Kayla to live with other relatives for a while. Both she and Lynette need some time apart to rethink things.
Bree
Talk about a war! Edie and Bree are skilled warriors in the art of backstabbing and blackmailing. It did look like Edie won the war when she discovered that Benjamin was Austin and Danielle's son. I didn't expect Bree to spill the beans to her friends so fast. I thought that she would bake a few batches of muffins first and then discover that the only way out was to come clean to her friends.
This week, we definitely saw how strong the four ladies bond is. Not everyone would have accepted the lies Bree said. But then again, they all said lies. It was refreshing to see them march on and support Bree in that final battle against Edie. You go girls!
Katherine
As promised by the show's creator, the cast, and the network, Katherine's secrets are being revealed in the last episodes of the season. Not only is Dylan not Wayne's daughter but, as many of us thought, Dylan is not Dylan (unless Katherine found a way to have scars completely disappear). Is the real Dylan the person buried in the woods? What happened to the real Dylan? Who is that "not Dylan" Dylan? Who? What? When? How? So many questions! Luckily for us, next week is a two-hour season finale filled with answers!
