Michael Rapaport joins Prison Break cast

by Erin Martell, posted May 13th 2008 3:07PM
Michael RapaportMichael Rapaport is heading back to Fox. The former star of The War At Home has been cast as a regular on Prison Break. Rapaport will play a government agent on the drama's fourth season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character has "an interesting offer" for Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

Rapaport just finished a guest stint on My Name Is Earl playing, ironically, a prison inmate who helps Earl escape. Season four of Prison Break premieres in September, with production starting in L.A. this month.

Earlier this year, fans were stunned to learn that Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Dr. Sara Tancredi, was returning to the show as a series regular. Callies' character was presumably beheaded in season three. Will these cast changes breathe new life into the show after a shortened third season? Fox recently ordered a possible 23-episode installment of Prison Break, which should give the writers plenty of room to develop Rapaport's character and explain the reappearance of Sarah Wayne Callies.

Is Michael Rapaport a welcome addition to the Prison Break cast? Sound off, fans!

How can Michael Rapaport bring humour to Prison Break when he isn't even remotely funny?

I'd like to see him beheaded. Not the character -- the actor.

This news is rad! I think that he will be a welcome addition to the show. Whoever does the casting of PB is a genius. I just finished the third season of "The Wire" and found out that "Luchero" was on that season, I was pleasantly surprised, he is an awesome actor and now I want to go back and watch the third season of PB again.

coincidentally, not "ironically"

Hell yes. I think he will be interesting on this show. I hope they come up with some more believable plots. This should be the final season of the show unless they changed their minds. During the 1st season the show runners said it would be 4 seasons split into 2 parts with 12 eps per half-season for 96 eps total. But if they are indeed trying to spin-off that female PB they may go with this one a little longer to help the other one. And I knew Sarah wasn't dead, they only showed her head for a 1/2 second. It was just some poor broad who looked like Sarah.

I think that would be a great way to take the series. They could retain a lot of the original cast, just bring them between shows seamlessly. While Prison Break is an awesome show, it needn't be stretched any farther than 1 more season. It's no longer really fitting to call it Prison Break.

Oh, and the topic of Rapaport joining Prison Break is excellent. Hope he can bring some humor to the show, but it sounds like that's not the character they wrote for him...
