The Daily Show: May 14, 2008 - VIDEOS

by Annie Wu, posted May 15th 2008 12:02PM
Jon Stewart"The Long Flat Seemingly Endless Bataan Death March to the White House": For a little while, Barack Obama looked like he was well on his way to locking the Democratic nomination. Then, West Virginia happened and Hillary Clinton totally crushed Obama in the state's primary. It may have had something to do with her hard work, her working class base, or because a lot of West Virginians are xenophobic. It's Obama's own fault for being a super-secret Muslim. In other news, the "I don't like the 'Hussein' thing" lady hurt my soul.

"West Virginia Douche Off": Clinton's campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe and Chris Matthews decided to yell at each other repeatedly. Man, there is something inherently terrifying about people screaming while smiling. This effect is doubled when it's McAuliffe and Matthews, tripled when there's stuff from Deliverance involved.

"Man on Emission": Jon's wildlife friends alerted him to a bizarre twist in the Republican landscape. Recently, John McCain delivered a speech about the importance of action against global warming. Let that sink in for a moment.

The night's guest was John Harwood from the New York Times, promoting his book, Pennsylvania Avenue: Profiles in Backroom Power. started the interview with a story from Jon's past. In case you didn't know, Jon played soccer for William & Mary way, way back in the day, when he still had a bit of a Jew-fro. Good legs, too. The discussion ranged from the productivity of the system to the current election. Harwood brought up the interesting topic of reaching across the aisle and the strange effectiveness of turning against one's own party values to get things done.

Jon/Stephen: I guess gators really do love marshmallows. Moment of Zen: Hillary Clinton is like the white Al Sharpton. Yup, Chris Matthews totally called it.

2nd try, whoops. hopefully this doesnt/didnt double post.

What was goin on with Senator McCain's eyebrows?

I'd almost say that he has alopecia (had to check the spelling on that one) and put one of his eyebrows on too high.

I always cringe when I hear Chris Matthews talk。 "Life is a Campaign"? ugh。

(what the? sudden font change is weird。)

I found those West Virginia clips so horrifying! I'm scared that there are people that ignorant; I made my children watch and swear that they'd never go to a school in that state.

Your "good legs" link goes to an earlier post. But the link IN the earlier post goes is a dead link.

Waaah! The Jew-fro blindsided me so badly I really wanted to see the good legs!

Ohh, damn! I did Photoshop the young Jon and 2004 Jon together in the picture for that post, though.

Why do you guys review this show every day? It's a waste of time/space. This is the only daily show you review, but you ignore plenty of weekly shows. I don't get it.
