Oddsmakers pick a David for Idol's Winner

David Cook It's getting closer. On Wednesday, America will crown the next Idol winner. Which David will it be? Of course, these two polar opposites have sparked some debate online as to who will win the competition.

Okay, is someone holding down Jeff Archuleta? According to E! Online, the oddmakers at BetCRIS.com have chosen David Cook to take the title Wednesday night. As per the online bookies, Cook has a 74% chance of winning this season of American Idol.

But E! Online makes a good point about Archuleta's young quick-dialing fanbase: "Of course, last we checked, Gambling 101 was not a part of a grade schooler's course load, meaning the actual voting demographic might not jibe with the oddmakers' pick and it still could be anybody's contest."

So, who are you voting for? Who do you think will win American Idol? Better yet, who do you think deserves to win American Idol this season? Check back with TV Squad for our review of the big night.

i was outside the Nokia theater yesterday right before the big David vs. David showdown -

i do a daily video blog called "Daily Freak Show," and for today's episode we went down to the Nokia theater in downtown LA, and mingled with the insanely astronomically long line of Idol fans hoping to get into the Nokia theater for Tuesday's show.

here's a link to our episode:

the host of the blog is james st. james, who gets some pretty funny reactions and testimonials from fans.

i hope you enjoy! :)

LMAO at anyone who really thinks that people will still know who David Archuletta is 50 years from now. Seriously.. my bet is that 5 years from now no one will know or care about either one of the David's. But in the next year or so I'll bet money that David C will outsell David A by a landslide. He's done it all season long on itunes, and when their cd's come out, he'll do it again.

Absolutely David Cook should win this, and I'm pretty sure that he will. Good luck to both contestants.

Well said Jim Lacey! i dont know why ppl are so hard on David Archuleta. he's just 17!!! and that voice is just magnetic. how many times has simon said "this is a singing competition"... while david cook and david archuleta are both great singers, archuleta's voice has something so sweet and sincere it in. i hope he wins, even if the odds are against him.

The only retards on these boards are you people. Get a life already. The two Davids like and respect each other. Get an education and a talent. Or better yet you really need to run to your therapist and take care of your own issues and anger problems. Perhaps you should develop your own talents instead of picking on other people. It only shows how mean and disrespectful you are to diversity.

So we send 17 year olds to war but we cannot aknowledge talent at a young age. And some of you with all your expert opinions, please people get a life already. When did you become the psychologists and experts in this world. There are also plenty of 17 year olds on drugs, and in jail too remember. You are such creepy people.

To all the experts on how the Archuleta family should treat their talented son, you are just so amazingly stupid. Why don't you get an education. Let's go by some other statistics, Taylor Swift signed her first singing contract at 16 now 19. Her Mom travels with her everywhere and has a lot to say about everything (per Taylor Swift herself), Miley Cirus 15 her Dad not only travels with her everywhere but as a musician himself has made a major impact to her success. So please people go away and leave David Archuleta alone and don't bad mouth a parent you know nothing about. The other contestants and they were there, said he is a great dad, he is required to be there because David A is a minor and he is a nice guy. They must know they lived there. Also, Brooke, Michael, Jason on a recent interview said they called their parents all the time and their parents were also there to give an input to them as well. Jeff Archuleta is a musician. All the contestants parents live the dream of their children (of all ages) become famous. Stop being such negative and mean human beings, if you cannot relate. Geez. Both remaining contestants treat each other wih respect and speak very highly of each other. They are both different type of singers. Get a life people. GEEEEEEEZ

Jim you ignorant slut.

The gossip blogs are filled with the misadventures of young people pushed to perform at too early an age by there overly zealous parents.

AND SO IT GOES...

There is a huge difference in this year's Idol finalists.

When he is on stage, Cook's performances demand the
audience's attention. When Archuleta is on stage, his voice
commands their attention.

There is clearly a worldliness in Cook, 26, still missing
in the younger Archuleta, 17, though Archuleta will grow into
that unknown, as he should, in his own good time. His
performances will also grow and reflect that change. He'll
blow us away even more than he does now.

By comparison, Cook's performances and his voice
are pretty much going to stay where they are right now.

The real curiosity meanwhile is the motivation behind
what makes us more a fan of the one than of the other.
Comments suggest that most of us tune in to "watch"
the show. Fewer of us by far tune in to "listen." This
clearly gives Cook the edge because he's the more
intense performer.

On those grounds I think he will win because he's got a
great voice and is worldly, eliminating Archuleta -- but only
because the kid hasn't been around the block yet, despite
having the greater voice by far.

What this says about us as fans is that we seem to be much
more interested in seeing someone's emotions on display
than we are in hearing about them.

Yet, all said, the real Idol is Archuleta, and has been
since the day he auditioned. Ten years from now Cook
likely will have vanished from the scene, but fifty years from
now, excited throngs in Paris and London and New York City
will still be queuing up, in the rain, under umbrellas, willing
to pay top dollar for tickets to an Archuleta concert, much as
they do now for 80-something-year-old Tony Bennett.

And so it goes....the kid has already won, even if he doesn't
know it.

I myself am pulling for David Cook to win. I think Archuleta's dad just ruins it for me.

Your comment gives whole new meaning to word "lame". What in he world does Archuleta's dad have to do with American Idol, David Cook or David Archuleta?

So are you saying your brother, who may be a thief, should result in you not getting a job somewhere or that your cousin, who sells drugs, should prevent your being chosen to participate in a beauty contest?

What ARE you saying?
