Adrian Grenier gets a new show

Adrien Grenier - Entourage, Alter EcoIt's just good common sense. You get yourself a big time show (Entourage) on a big network (HBO) and then you jump on board with a huge star (Ed Begley Jr?). I'm sure it made more sense in the pitch meeting. Anyway, Entourage star Grenier has a new gig that will be airing on the soon to launch Planet Green channel.

His new show, Alter Eco, will follow his Green Team as they take on environmental projects around Los Angeles. The team includes Boise Thomas, model Angela Lindvall, and Darren Moore. Moore is listed in the linked article as a renovations expert, but I just think of him as the physicist from Twitch City, which is cool enough to get me to tune in at least once. Planet Green, which will also be the home of Begley Jr's Living With Ed, is set to launch on June 4th, with the 13 episode run of Alter Eco premiering June 9th.

So as network after network (see: TLC, Discovery, TVLand, Spike, CourtTV, and now SciFi) decides that specialized, niche programming is pointless and starts becoming generalized and more bland, another highly-specialized cable network is launching? Aren't all these people in the same industry? Which ones are nuts?

You make a great point Scott, and I'd throw G4 and Bravo in your list as well. Unfortunately, I think the answer to your question is that TV in general is nuts.

One of my past employers knew Ed Begley, Jr. really well. He said that Ed completely lived his "green" (not as it was called at the time) lifestyle and had other fun idiosyncrasies. For example, he once stayed the night and forgot his slippers, so he stepped into two tissue boxes so as not to get his feet dirty after a shower.

Good luck to Adrian being green!
