Nielsen ratings for the week ending June 8

Here are the weekly TV ratings, by number of viewers.

While ABC is probably happy with the NBA Finals games (predictably) grabbing the top slots, CBS has to be happy with the way two of their new shows fared. Million Dollar Password was number 6 this week (number three last week) and the debut of Swingtown hit number 12. Actually, CBS has to be happy in general, as they grabbed 13 of the top 20 shows, though I'm kinda surprised that 60 Minutes continues to do so well in the off season, considering the episodes are all repeat segments.

1. NBA Finals - Game 1 (ABC)
2. NBA Finals - Game 2 (ABC)

3. 60 Minutes (CBS)
4. CSI (CBS)
5. Two and a Half Men (CBS)
6. Million Dollar Password (CBS)
7. CSI: NY (CBS)
8. CSI: Miami (CBS)
9. House (FOX)
10. NCIS (CBS)
11. So You Think You Can Dance - Weds (FOX)
12. Swingtown (CBS)
13. Hell's Kitchen (FOX)
14. So You Think You Can Dance - Thurs (FOX)
15. Cold Case (CBS)
16. Criminal Minds (CBS)
17. CSI (CBS)
18. Dateline (NBC)
19. 48 Hours Mystery - Tues (CBS)
20. Rules of Engagement (CBS)

The shows that make the top 20 list always baffle me. People really enjoy Password as a primetime pick?? I don't get it. But then I don't like any of the evening game shows, so I'm biased, I suppose. I actually liked Two and a Half Men for the first couple of seasons, but come on! The novelty of it wore off long ago.How many times can Charlie get drunk and sleep with yet another woman? Geez!

I think Swingtown will suffer a quick death. I have a feeling the high ratings were just people like me, curious & were dissappointed in the writing. It was just pretty dull.

60 minutes still has at least one segment on a week that is either new or hasn't been shown in a long time ("new to you"). And they usually have short updates to the more recently aired repeat segments at the end of each segment.
