Rob Corddry"George Walker Bush: Still President": We've still got seven months before the era of President Bush is officially over. With Barack Obama and John McCain dominating the news, Bush has taken a little vacay to Europe, because he's pretty much the only American who can afford to do so at this point. What's up with Bush getting super touchy-feely with German Chancellor Angela Merkel? Has he learned nothing? When he wasn't giving massages or trying the classic "yawn and stretch" on the Chancellor, he attempted to convince the German press that he's not actually a fan of war and it was his own rhetoric's fault for making it seem otherwise.

Senior Presidential Legalicist John Oliver offered some insight to Bush's rhetoric. Just because Bush endlessly talked about war and started equally endless wars, that doesn't necessarily mean he likes war. However, he obviously loves Jon Bon Jovi.



With more news from Slovenia, Jon turned to Senior Lipizzaner Correspondent... Rob Corddry! Oh, goodness. I have missed that guy so much. After his Fox show, The Winner, totally bombed, I wanted him to come back to the show, but I guess he's now too busy doing movies. Check it out, he's playing Ari Fleisher in W. Anyway, it was fantastic to see ol' Rob Corddry again, doing the most flamboyant piece possible. Whatever happened to little bro and fellow correspondent, Nate Corddry? Both of them were great.



The night's guest was Richard Engel, Chief News Correspondent for NBC News and author of War Journal: My Five Years in Iraq. In case you haven't gathered already, he has been in Iraq for five years, covering the war in-depth. Engel's points came from very strong ground and his story is incredible. I'm not a big fan reading war non-fiction, but I'm tempted to pick up Engel's book just because it's Engel.



Jon/Stephen: Stephen Colbert is ass-sizzling good. Maybe. Moment of Zen: Bush loves our corny common values.

Next week: Steve Carell?! This news fills me with incredible joy. I have my fingers crossed for two things: A) Some more pre-taped "Produce Pete" segments, like what Steve Carell did after his first interview appearance on TDS, B) A special appearance by Stephen Colbert to bring back that trio magic. Until the latter happens, I'll play this old video on loop:

props to Richard Engel. IIRC, that guy lost his marriage because he chose to stick it out in Iraq covering the war/occupation/everything.

Serious reporting, he is.

I noticed that the spelling of Rob's name kept changing as they went from one camera to another.

I fail to notice the signifigance of Rob re-appearing, since I has been rewatching some of the 2003 shows for some time. It was until the third watch that I realize that Rob was no-longer part of the regular. What a surprise!

Funny thing: they used a picture of green asparagus while the most common form is _white_ asparagus.

You heard me. White. UBER-Spargel!
(Spargel is german for asparagus).

Anyway, I miss Nate Corddry more than Rob. He was great on Studio 60 - he felt better in the role of "guy who loves average-looking-girl" than on the original version of "The Office" if you ask me but that idiotic Matthew Perry relationship overshadowed everything romantic on that show. Sorkin can't do romance.

Nate is doing three movies at the moment so if you ask me he's doing even better than Rob - maybe the reason for Rob to be on TDS? Who knows.

I don't care so much for Produce ... oh wait. Maybe I do. I want a Weisser Asparagus-segment with Steve next week. And don't forget the Schutzstaffel hats!

Forgot to fill in the whole "The Office" reference. Lucy Davis was Dawn on "The Office (UK)" (the "Pam" character on "The Office") and I liked her performance with Nate on Studio 60 more than the one on "The Office (UK)". Maybe because she also looked that much better and played a much more confident person. Kinda like what she did on "The Office Christmas Special" at the end. I would've loved to see where those two would have ended up. *sigh*

Isn't rhetoric a bad thing? Should Bush be admitting that was what it was? He is also fond of asparagus.

It was good to see Rob again, but his segment was pointless. It's time for him to come home to be with his pregnant wife. Did she cheat on him or did she freeze some of his sperm like Grace Ryan? Boosh!
