Housewives: Mike and Susan are definitely split

by Kristin Sample, posted Jul 7th 2008 1:20PM
As if it wasn't obvious from the last moments of the Desperate Housewives season finale... You may remember Susan kissing another man during the show's highly anticipated flash forward. And James Denton told People that Mike and Susan are definitely split up. However, we're not losing James Denton from ABC's hit show altogether. "I'm not sure exactly in what capacity. Marc Cherry is being a little cagey. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. But I will certainly be on the show. It's a relief to me, trust me," the 45-year-old actor told People. What's with that last bit about the new storyline being a "relief"?

Well, I'm certainly relieved that Mike and Susan are split up. The only time I enjoyed them on the show was in the very beginning. Mike was the new, mysterious neighbor. Susan was the same hapless, annoying person she is seasons later. She and Edie vied for Mike's attention. That was the last time I really liked the Susan / Mike dynamic.

What do you think? Were you pleasantly surprised to see Susan kiss another man? Or were you worried your favorite Desperate Housewives couple was split up forever?

James Denton is 45? *looks at that picture* He looks terrific then. Lets hope he spends more time shirtless in the next season, then. Yum.

And honestly, this time jump gimmick? Not liking it. Part of the fun of the journey is the travel there. I want to see the stories as they've moved forward, not be dropped in the middle of all-new dramas.

I agree with that. I hope that the jump was just a teaser and that we get to see the journey.

They better have more Mike/Zack storyline, or I'll be miffed. But they'll probably do something lame with Mike now: having him fall back into popping pills, or sent back to jail for something minor because he spent time in the pokey.

Bree and Lynette get all the super storylines. Susan and Gabby's stories aren't as good. And Edie's stories are all based on her desperation to do anything to get a man, which ends up with her desperate actions turning the men off.

I think the ladies of DH are getting tired of being chained to the show, or asking for too much money, so the producers are fast-forwarding time to see about spinoffs from the Wisteria Lane kids all grown up.

Um.... I got tired of Mike and Susan... but I am glad he is still on the show. I'd miss him.

I'm sure the relief was at still having a job on a hit show.

I have nothing against James Denton and I'm sure his fans are glad that he'll still be in the show. However, as a fan of Gale Harold, I am very happy he's in the show! I can't wait to see what they do with his character! He's such a good actor, I just hope they give him a great storyline!

I'm actually glad to see them break up. If Mike sticks around, give the guy his own storyline outside of "Mike & Susan." Personally, I'm intrigued to see what they do with the addition of Gale Harold to the series. The guy is a great actor and should be an interesting match-up with Terry Hatcher/Susan.

I like Mike. I like Mike and Susan. I'm steamed at the way Mike is always doing something bad. The whole drug thing was the limit. Honestly? I'm done with Housewives. It just lost something with me. And the whole 5 year jump = jump the shark. Sorry. I'm glad Mike is still working, though. That is one fine gentleman.
