Michael J. Fox to guest star on Rescue Me

Michael J. FoxWith Rescue Me's fifth season finally (kinda, sorta) getting closer, we're getting more and more news about what's in store for Tommy and the gang. In addition to the minisodes, we've also got some exciting potential casting news: Michael J. Fox may be joining Rescue Me for a multi-episode arc. Fox is set to play a love interest for Tommy's (Dennis Leary) on-again/off-again ex, Janet (Andrea Roth).

Rescue Me
may seem like an odd show for the former Spin City and Family Ties star to pop up on, but Fox and Leary are longtime friends. This friendship means that even though the deal isn't completely finalized, there's very good chance that Fox will be seen on the FX drama next summer.

This isn't the first guest-stint for Fox since his battle with Parkinson Disease led to a semi-retirement in 2000. He appeared on Scrubs as a doctor with OCD and, beginning in 2006, he appeared in several episodes of Boston Legal as a CEO with lung cancer. The Boston Legal role earned Fox an Emmy nomination for best guest appearance.

Last season's Rescue Me was a little "meh," for me, so bringing Michael J. Fox on board as a possible sparring partner for Tommy sounds awesome. What do you think? Is this an interesting new direction for the show, or does Fox just not fit in?

Let it be true! I think it would be wonderful for the show as well as an inspiration for all suffering from a disability.

"there's very good chance that Fox will be seen on the FX drama this fall."

Don't you mean next summer, or has something changed?

Great casting! It sure beats the news that has been coming out of NBC re: Chuck.

I'm sure Denis and Michael are old school hockey buddies. Seems like a good fit to me.

I like this idea. Someone that does not "fit in" might bring some life back to the show. I agree about last season being kind of "meh". I have always like MJF. He was great in Scrubs, but I don't watch Boston Legal.

The minisodes have been hilarious so far....
