Has Daily Show withdrawal kicked in yet? - VIDEOS

We are nearing the end of The Daily Show's two-week hiatus, but I'm suffering from a serious case of the political commentary shakes. In a desperate attempt to curb my withdrawal symptoms, I spent most of July 4th cracking jokes about the FISA Bill, but nobody wanted to hear it and drowned me out with lots of Roman Candles and exploding beer cans. Hopefully, other fans have been coping better than I have, but just in case you aren't, here are a few things to hold you over a few more days.

First up is Digital Journal's interview with correspondent John Oliver. It's brief, but it still offers some interesting information on Oliver's thoughts on working on the show. I had no idea that he didn't audition. Looks like the TDS folks were right with their instincts. Calling Ricky Gervais his "partner in comedy crime" sounds a little misleading though, as it makes it seem like they're Fry and Laurie or... Gervais and Merchant.

The rest of the correspondents joined with Oliver to create this short video for "Stand Up to Cancer". Each of the correspondents have their own strengths, but they work surprisingly well together. It's lines like "Cancer is bad, almost everyone is against it" that remind me of this.

Comedy Central Insider has also done a fine job of picking TDS' 25 Sexiest Moments. For the most part, I agree with the list, and I'm also glad that they've managed to pick out some fantastic oldies that I had long forgotten about. The inclusion of one of my all-time favorite field reports is one more big bonus. That's a big slice!

If it's Colbert Report pain you feel, check out the No Fact Zone's Klassic Kolbert picks, complete with video, for every night that show has been gone in the past two weeks. Then, pick up the newest copy of Esquire magazine. Stephen Colbert in boxers, on the cover. That is all I need to say.

What about news anchors not being able to talk about those tasty "nuts"?

I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms when I see this. I mean how come stuff like this always happens when TDS is on vacation?

And I want TCR back! I want to know what Stephen has done to his body this time, including any and all Tattoos!

I use BeyondTV (a PC DVR), so I can space out my Daily Show/Colbert Report watching to about one a day, with enough left over so when the shows go into hiatus, I still have some new ones to watch.

Thankfully, I just watched my last show today, so I'll have a short wait until Monday, when we get some fresh episodes!

Does the Esquire article say what happened to Stephen's face? The Nation needs to know.

No, but... Apparently he was in a little boating accident. But since it happened while he was Stephen Colbert and not "Stephen Colbert", I guess it's not really all right to talk about on the show.
