The Mole: Episodes 6 and 7
(S05E06 and S05E07)
Yup, that's right, there are two episodes of The Mole this week, thanks to last week's interruption by The Bachelorette. Of course, it turns out that the first episode is just one of those reality show "up to this point..." rehashes that we often get. These always bore me, especially since I've seen (and reviewed) every episode already. I'm sure there are a few new clues to who the Mole is in this recap, but I'll be damn if I could find them.
We did, however, get to see some unseen footage, including the very large Craig rolling over some of his fellow players on a bed and Nicole saying "All I have to do is be black and die," a quote from an earlier episode that I had forgotten about. We also get to see a new scene where Nicole and Alex admitted throwing that "Fruit of the Luge" challenge. But overall, it's not really a needed episode for fans.
So let's get to this week's new adventure...
So as it turns out, Nicole is the only female left in the game. She has to compete with Craig, Mark, Alex, Paul, and Clay, most of whom don't trust her at all.
Mark impressed me tonight. In the first challenge, he not only answered most of the complex math problem/GPS questions, he did it while running for 53 minutes straight on a treadmill! In the second challenge he jumped off the plank and bungeed (if that's a word). Of course, all of the players jumped off, even if they were way off with their guesses as to how much money they'd get (I don't get the fears of some of the players that players who jumped missed the target on purpose...it seems really easy to miss the target). I don't understand why Jon Kelley asked each player what their guess was one at a time before they jumped. Didn't this give the players that jumped later an advantage, because they saw the people who jumped earlier missed the target? And on that note, why the hell did Nicole, who went last, guess $28,000?!
Mark and Clay's plan to get Alex drunk on wine...I don't know how this will really hurt his quiz taking. I mean, the questions are rather specific ("Is the Mole male or female?" - with only one woman left, go with the odds) and blunt and I don't think extra wine will make an impact.
But what do I know? Alex goes home, and I would say he's probably the last of the "he's a little under the radar so he could be the Mole" players. So we're down to Clay, Nicole, Craig, Mark, and Paul. A mix of the arrogant and rather obnoxious (Nicole and Paul), players who have done many suspicious things (Mark and Craig), and some that have seem to have been rather sneaky in their play (Clay and Craig).
As for clues this week, I have no idea. I am rather intrigued by the t-shirts that several players are wearing. What's up with Craig's "SLIKE" shirt? Or Mark's "Wisconsin" shirt? I wonder if those are clues?
Next week we get to meet their family members and ride a subway!
