Another gladiator announced

The BeastAmerican Gladiators announced a new cast member today -- "The Beast." He'll be there for the semi-finals. The final 12 contenders will have to deal with this "monster" (that's the term from the press release) to get to the ultimate prize.

Those of you who have watched the show know it's really the reverse treadmill thingie that poses the biggest obstacle between any contender and his/her victory. But The Beast should terrify a few of the hopefuls. He stands at seven-feet-tall and weighs 318 lbs. From the picture, you can see that 200 of those pounds are in his neck.

This casting confirmation comes after some wheeling and dealing with wrestling company TNA, The Beast's (real name: Matt Morgan) other employer. The Beast has also wrestled for WWE.

Just a note, according to his wikipedia page, Matt Morgan stands at only 6'10". Well, that makes all the difference. See before I was scared. But now I think I could take him. Still need to figure out the reverse treadmills though.

And a bit of trivia--Matt Morgan was on Who's the Boss? at age nine.

You can see The Beast's first appearance on American Gladiators this coming Monday, July 21st, at 8 pm ET / PT on NBC.

Isn't "reverse treadmill" kind of a misnomer? Treadmills are designed to go against your motion, hence why they're not just called moving platforms (e.g. airports, etc.). Just call it the Travelator (as it is known on AG) and be done with it.

Matt also wrestled for TNA. He's pretty fast and athletic for a big man. Not a terrible actor either.
