Jon Cryer not counting on that Emmy

by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 23rd 2008 8:02AM
Two and a half men couchDon't get him wrong; Jon Cryer is thrilled to be nominated for an Emmy again. This is his third nomination as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series as Alan Harper, the sad sack, divorced brother of Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. In 2006 and 2007, he lost to Jeremy Piven, Ari Gold on Entourage, and Jon Cryer is ticked off: "Laugh all you want, [he] is my nemesis. He's a force of nature."

If it's not Piven -- again! -- Jon has another nemesis lined up: "I think this time Neil Patrick Harris (Barney on How I Met Your Mother) will win."

Cryer is good natured about his chances and not seriously miffed. He's planning to bring his new wife, entertainment reporter Lisa Joyner. "When we heard the news, she was thrilled for a moment, then filled with dread as she started to worry about what she'll wear. But she'll be there with me -- or I'll be very lonely."

There is at least one person who is all for Jon winning -- his co-star, Charlie Sheen. He told me, "I'd like to see Jon win. You know, we started out together in 1983. I used to see him on auditions and I'd watch his movies growing up and I was always aware of his talent. After 25 years in the business, he finally gets the recognition he deserves. So if he wins, that's plenty for me. If the show wins, that'll be fabulous, but at least we were invited to the party."

In my opinion, Jon Cryer should be in the Outstanding Actor category with Charlie -- they are equal on Two and a Half Men, like Felix and Oscar in The Odd Couple. The only distinction between the two is probably billing and salary. That said, I think he's right; he'll have to be satisfied with the nomination. Two and a Half Men is just not appreciated, even though it's consistently one of the funniest sitcoms on the air.

this show is hilarious. i love it to death. but i think charlie sheen is the least funny person on the show one of.

funniest people would have to be alan then jake and then berta those 3 kill me all the time. i love jakes complete stupidity and berta is just all around funny.

i hope they explore more of jake in high school. those awkward moments will be a great element to the show.

The cutting wit of this show is missed by many due to it's blunt nature. Like a large war hammer to the forehead!
