Big Brother 10: Nominations #2

by Kristin Sample, posted Jul 28th 2008 8:43AM
Keesha, the HOH(S10E06) So we went into last night's episode of Big Brother 10 with Keesha, the Hooters waitress from L.A., as head of household. The plan for the alliance of eight (which started the first week and included Ollie, Libra, April, Keesha, Jessie, Memphis, Michelle, and Angie) was to put up Brian's remaining alliance member, Dan, and one of the floaters -- in this case Jerry.

But will Keesha, who has been a bit of a loose canon from the start, listen to her alliance? And if she doesn't, how will the hamsters regroup? I think we heard at least three hamsters say, "the lines are going to be drawn in the sand" tonight. And indeed they were.

The Pre-Nomination Brown-Nosing & Strategizing

With the exception of Angie, who looked visibly nauseous when Keesha was crowed HOH, everyone seemed very happy with the new head of household. Libra was especially excited, probably compensating for the tension between herself and Keesha in past weeks. Remember Libra has doubted Keesha's loyalty for the past two evictions. April also played the ass-kissing game and probably was also compensating.

Renny, who seems to have a real bond with the HOH (she stayed with Keesha as she read her letter from home), sees through April's saccharine bubbliness. However, Keesha was happy to have April to commiserate with. In fact, she told April right away that she wanted to put up Angie for eviction.

More hamsters filed into the HOH room and Keesha relayed her plan. She feels Angie is "gunning for" her. But, Keesha is a sensitive player and also wants retribution for what happened to Steven last week. She feels that Angie "hung him up to dry." Everyone agrees with Keesha, but they ask who she her other nomination will be. Memphis's name is thrown around because he would be a vote for Angie to stay.

Memphis comes in the HOH room and Keesha runs her plan by him. He looks confused (clearly he thought that Keesha would do the alliance of eight's bidding). Memphis even looks a little irritated that this blonde actually has opinions of her own, but the mixologist from LA keeps cool. He assures Keesha that Angie is not gunning for her. Just as Keesha and Memphis are talking, Angie comes in with Renny. They are told to leave the room for five minutes. Angie goes directly down to the spa room and reports to Jessie and Michelle. She knows something's up.

After the food comp, Jessie decides to work his charm on the HOH. His charm, by the way, consists of badgering her and raising his voice. "Do you understand?," he repeated twice as he walked out the door. He wants to put up Libra and Dan. The ex-HOH thinks Dan will understand and he believes Libra will go home. Wait a tick. That's not the original plan either. That's still not Jerry and Dan. Keesha listens to his opinions eagerly, but from what we've seen of Keesha's game, she was only being polite. I think the whole time she was thinking, "you arrogant SOB, I'm gonna stick your ass on the block too." At least that was what I was thinking.

The Food Competition

This week's food competition transported the hamsters back to the 50s with poodle skirts, record players, sock hops, and letter sweaters. Dan even slicked his hair back to become a greaser. They all played for different foods this time, as opposed to playing on teams against each other. The girls and guys had to work together to match different socks while standing on spinning records.

Probably the best part of the competition was April screaming (that's right, screaming) at Ollie as the showmance couple tried to find matching socks. She called the wrong colors, got corrected by her frantic teammates, and panicked even more herself. Dan said that he was reminded of The Honeymooners while watching them. I think everyone saw that April is one person who should not be in charge in the event of an emergency.

By the way, the house won pigs feet as one of their meats for the week. The only person excited about this is Michelle, the 28-year-old of Portuguese descent. She told the girls that she eats pigs feet and other unusual animal parts all the time. Well, bon appetít!

The Nominations

It was time to see if Jessie's badgering, Angie's diligent reporting, April's girl talk, Libra's extra excitement, and Memphis's promising paid off. Keesha almost teared up before she made her speech. She seemed sincere when she told the house that this was something she had to do. The keys were pulled. I think it's important to note that Dan's key was pulled first and Michelle's key was pulled last. A message? I think probably. Keesha is a smart player, fully aware of how these things are analyzed.

After the keys were pulled, it was clear that Jessie and Angie had been nominated for eviction. She told Angie that the night before Brian left, Angie came to her trying to save him. Keesha had a target on her back because she engaged in that situation. She feels that Angie let Steven take the fall when she was just as close with Brian. Keesha told Jessie that he's a huge threat to her in this competition. She added a personal reason--he was behind Steven's departure last week.

Some questions for you BB fans...

How happy are you that Jessie is up on the block?
Do you think Keesha made the right decision for the house? For herself?
Should Keesha have nominated Libra? Do you believe Jessie that she would have had the votes to get her out?

Notice the signal Jessie gave Mephis, when Angie left the room. what is wrong with these people? We must get to Dan to encourage that April put him up!

i dont know about this. getting angie out is fine, but putting up jessie beside her may not be the best move. I think that michelle probably should have gone up against angie. The only reason I say this is because if you put Jessie up as just a spot holder on the block and he's here the week after, he's going to hold that grudge for a while, (as renny knows) and now your going to be a big target for him in the future. if you put michelle up there you could probably explain to her that she is not the intended target and keep that relationship in case you need it later. Jessie only sees it as you put him up so you want him out so now hes gonna get you out as soon as possible.

I think that Keesha really wants Angie gone. Is that the best move? NO!! I think that the only way Keesha would change her mind is if Jessie bugged her to death that she tells the houseguests to vote him out.

I think the reason that Dan's key was pulled first while Michelle's last was done by the producers for dramatic effect and to create tension. There's no way the producers didn't rearrange the keys themselves before the ceremony since they had to capture everyone's expression and also for editing purposes.
I'm just glad to see Jessie on the block, but Angie? just for personal reason? I'd put Jerry up, can't stand him, don't think he knows what's happening half the time either.
Keesha is smart to not put Libra up to keep up her appearance and the fact that everyone hates Libra anyway. hope Jessie's gone by next week.

i'm pretty sure the hoh arranges the keys and they are not fiddled with, but this isnt clear, interesting..

i think her order of keys was quite clearly explicit in her alliance

after reading what mrcenteroftheu wrote, i think her intention is to get rid of jessie as well. you know jessie's ego is not at all happy with being nominated and he will make sure to go after keesha if he is around next week

Memphis is a way bigger danger to her than Angie.

If she really want to take on the alliance of 4 she would target Jesse and Memphis.

The only reason Angie is on the block it's because they hate each other. That's not being smart...

Actually pally, the way she is playing it is the better move. By putting both, Jessie and Memphis, up, they both automatically play for the POV. This way only one of them is automatic and the other must draw in. She's already played Memphis by confiding in him and by not putting him up she still has a good chance to backdoor him if that's what she and the others decide to do. I think Angie is the pawn here with the real targets being Jessie and Memphis. They are the ones everybody thinks are the real threats to control the game. Keesha is being pretty slick here; if Jessie doesn't win POV he's gone and Keesha hasn't exposed her hand to Memphis. If Jessie wins POV, Memphis is evicted (probably) and Jessie's power is diluted, having only Angie and Michelle to rely on. The backdoor here is an extremely viable alternative. Good move by Keesha.

Jessie needed to be on the block. His "do you understand" bit made it clear how little he understands.

I think Keesha made a good move. She correctly identified the gang of four with Jessie, Michelle, Angie and Memphis and has taken the opportunity to upset that balance and to force the rest of the house to take a stand and not be dictated to by a small group that couldn't care less about their game safety other than as pawns.

@Danielle: Jerry annoys me too. I think he would have been a Jessie-sized prick if he was in this game as a 30-year-old. As it is, you can feel it emanating from him, but he isn't overt about it.

what in the world is going on, am I the only one who see that little group of four with Jessie, Memphis, Michelle and Angie? They need to be stopped and Keesha has got the ball rolling. Lets just hope POV is not in any of that groups future! I like to see crazy Renny win!!

I can't stand Libra and April, so I was hoping Keesha would rejoin the jesse/memphis/michelle/angie alliance.

What a dumb move by her to target Angie because she didn't stand for Steven. Yeah, she was kind of trying to save her place in the house. Can you blame her for that?

You might hate Jessie but he is playing a way better game than her.

Keesha just became the number one target of Memphis/Michelle/Jesse-Angie and by looking at the cast, theirs odds are on their favor to win.

That was DUMB. She's going to pay for it.

Which show are you watching? How is Jessie playing a better game? He's pissing off all of the HG's with his arrogance and nobody likes him. He's hanging onto Memphis because he's got nobody else.

How are Angie/Jessie/Memphis/Michelle going to win? One of them is going home this week and the other side of the house has more people than them? April, Ollie, Angie & Keesha have recruited Jerry & Renny and now they have Dan in their back pocket too.

This is a different game than last week. As long as Memphis, Michelle and Angie/Jessie don't get HOH I think Keesha's alliance will pick them off one at a time and then go back to Jerry, Renny & Dan.

I am really delighted that Jessie's arrogant ass is finally on the block. I would hope that he would go this week, but it will probably be Angie before Jessie. I think Keesha made a smart move. I'd next like to see Memphis out; he is a total jerk.

Its a little exciting to see Jessie on the block, but not all that exciting considering Angie is definitely the one leaving this week. I think Keesha's nominations were smart ones. She knows that the alliance of Jessie, Angie, Memphis, and Michelle needs to be broken up. Putting up Libra would not have been of any benefit to Keesha. Libra and Keesha seem to have worked out their differences for now, so why would she want to put up someone who is going to vote how she wants and not nominate her anytime soon? If Libra can watch her mouth over these next couple of weeks and let others do the verbal fighting, she might completely remove the target from her back.
