Big Brother 10: Nominations #2
(S10E06) So we went into last night's episode of Big Brother 10 with Keesha, the Hooters waitress from L.A., as head of household. The plan for the alliance of eight (which started the first week and included Ollie, Libra, April, Keesha, Jessie, Memphis, Michelle, and Angie) was to put up Brian's remaining alliance member, Dan, and one of the floaters -- in this case Jerry. But will Keesha, who has been a bit of a loose canon from the start, listen to her alliance? And if she doesn't, how will the hamsters regroup? I think we heard at least three hamsters say, "the lines are going to be drawn in the sand" tonight. And indeed they were.
The Pre-Nomination Brown-Nosing & Strategizing
With the exception of Angie, who looked visibly nauseous when Keesha was crowed HOH, everyone seemed very happy with the new head of household. Libra was especially excited, probably compensating for the tension between herself and Keesha in past weeks. Remember Libra has doubted Keesha's loyalty for the past two evictions. April also played the ass-kissing game and probably was also compensating.
Renny, who seems to have a real bond with the HOH (she stayed with Keesha as she read her letter from home), sees through April's saccharine bubbliness. However, Keesha was happy to have April to commiserate with. In fact, she told April right away that she wanted to put up Angie for eviction.
More hamsters filed into the HOH room and Keesha relayed her plan. She feels Angie is "gunning for" her. But, Keesha is a sensitive player and also wants retribution for what happened to Steven last week. She feels that Angie "hung him up to dry." Everyone agrees with Keesha, but they ask who she her other nomination will be. Memphis's name is thrown around because he would be a vote for Angie to stay.
Memphis comes in the HOH room and Keesha runs her plan by him. He looks confused (clearly he thought that Keesha would do the alliance of eight's bidding). Memphis even looks a little irritated that this blonde actually has opinions of her own, but the mixologist from LA keeps cool. He assures Keesha that Angie is not gunning for her. Just as Keesha and Memphis are talking, Angie comes in with Renny. They are told to leave the room for five minutes. Angie goes directly down to the spa room and reports to Jessie and Michelle. She knows something's up.
After the food comp, Jessie decides to work his charm on the HOH. His charm, by the way, consists of badgering her and raising his voice. "Do you understand?," he repeated twice as he walked out the door. He wants to put up Libra and Dan. The ex-HOH thinks Dan will understand and he believes Libra will go home. Wait a tick. That's not the original plan either. That's still not Jerry and Dan. Keesha listens to his opinions eagerly, but from what we've seen of Keesha's game, she was only being polite. I think the whole time she was thinking, "you arrogant SOB, I'm gonna stick your ass on the block too." At least that was what I was thinking.
The Food Competition
This week's food competition transported the hamsters back to the 50s with poodle skirts, record players, sock hops, and letter sweaters. Dan even slicked his hair back to become a greaser. They all played for different foods this time, as opposed to playing on teams against each other. The girls and guys had to work together to match different socks while standing on spinning records.
Probably the best part of the competition was April screaming (that's right, screaming) at Ollie as the showmance couple tried to find matching socks. She called the wrong colors, got corrected by her frantic teammates, and panicked even more herself. Dan said that he was reminded of The Honeymooners while watching them. I think everyone saw that April is one person who should not be in charge in the event of an emergency.
By the way, the house won pigs feet as one of their meats for the week. The only person excited about this is Michelle, the 28-year-old of Portuguese descent. She told the girls that she eats pigs feet and other unusual animal parts all the time. Well, bon appetít!
The Nominations
It was time to see if Jessie's badgering, Angie's diligent reporting, April's girl talk, Libra's extra excitement, and Memphis's promising paid off. Keesha almost teared up before she made her speech. She seemed sincere when she told the house that this was something she had to do. The keys were pulled. I think it's important to note that Dan's key was pulled first and Michelle's key was pulled last. A message? I think probably. Keesha is a smart player, fully aware of how these things are analyzed.
After the keys were pulled, it was clear that Jessie and Angie had been nominated for eviction. She told Angie that the night before Brian left, Angie came to her trying to save him. Keesha had a target on her back because she engaged in that situation. She feels that Angie let Steven take the fall when she was just as close with Brian. Keesha told Jessie that he's a huge threat to her in this competition. She added a personal reason--he was behind Steven's departure last week.
Some questions for you BB fans...
How happy are you that Jessie is up on the block?
Do you think Keesha made the right decision for the house? For herself?
Should Keesha have nominated Libra? Do you believe Jessie that she would have had the votes to get her out?
