Live action Scooby Doo coming to TV and DVD

The Scooby GangJust in case the first two Scooby Doo movies left you with unanswered questions, there is some good news. A third movie is in the works and this one will be direct-to-TV-and-DVD.

The new movie is intended as a prequel and will be called Scooby Doo: In The Beginning. It will star lesser-known actors (and by lesser I mean virtually not known at all) since the original actors have moved on with their careers. It will be about the Scooby Gang solving mysteries together for the first time.

Despite not being a cartoon (although it's based on one), the prequel will be shown on the Cartoon Network. Warner Home Video will distribute the DVD.

I am suddenly flashing back to the third Brady Bunch movie that was direct-to-TV in which Mike Brady became the President of the United States. Based on that, forgive me if I don't have high hopes for the new Scooby Doo movie.

I think a Scooby Doo live action series would do well... and it doesn't matter that the "stars" want to disassociate themselves from the show. In fact, as long as the characters are "accurately" portrayed, it would be a ratings weiner... erm, winner.

My only concern... who could be a better Shaggy than Matt Lillard?
