What to Watch Weekend, Aug. 2-3

by Kim Potts, posted Aug 2nd 2008 6:00AM
'Pam: Girl on the Loose'
(Sun., 10PM, E!) series premiere
Girl? That ship sailed a while ago. Loose? Well ...

Anyway, Pam Anderson insists in the set-up of her new series that it's a "documentary," not a "reality" show, but those who regularly tune in for the celebreality fare that populates much of the line-up on networks like E! and VH1 will certainly not find 'Pam' out of place. In other words, it is so a reality show.

In the opener, Anderson plans a massive yard sale to get rid of years of clutter, and sets a couple of ground rules, including the one about viewers never seeing her childrens' faces on the air (a deal the paparazzi have not agreed to, clearly).

We're guessing that's not why most viewers would watch the show, anyway, as the Playboy and 'Baywatch' star isn't nearly as modest about showing off her own face, as well as various body parts south of that.

'Battleground Earth: Ludacris vs. Tommy Lee'
(Sun., 10PM, Planet Green) series premiere
The title says it all: Tommy Lee, the ex (and current?) of the aforementioned Pam Anderson, dukes it out with rapper Luda to see who can live the most eco-friendly lifestyle. Green tattoos, anyone?

'L.A. Hard Hats'
(Sun., 9PM, NGC) series premiere
In the latest occupational reality (occureality?) series, we meet the various workers involved in constructing the 23-story, eco-friendly Evo building in downtown Los Angeles.

'Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal'
(Sat., 9PM, Lifetime)
Tatum O'Neal stars in this delicious guilty pleasure, based on the real-life story about five spoiled Texas high school cheerleaders and the teacher who tries to put a stop to their reign of mean girl terror.

'HGTV Summer Showdown'
(Sun., 10PM, HGTV) series premiere
Our old 'Trading Spaces' fave Vern Yip tries to out-makeover Cynthia Rowley in the first installment of this four-episode room redesign race.

'The Two Coreys'
(Sun., 10PM, A&E)
An intervention, with Pauly Shore? If that doesn't set Corey Haim on the right path, nothin' will.

'Fastest Man on No Legs'
(Sun., 10PM, BBC America)
His Beijing Olympic dreams, sadly, were dashed, but double-amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius, whose inspirational story unfolds in this profile, has already confirmed he's looking ahead to the 2012 Games in London.

Tomorrow's preview: 'New York Goes to Hollywood,' 'Teen Choice 2008' and more
