What to Watch Wednesday, Aug. 13

by Kim Potts, posted Aug 13th 2008 6:00AM
'Project Runway'
(9PM, Bravo)
Tonight the designers need to put away the peacock feathers, the plastic cups and, special note to you, Stella, the leathuh, as special guest judge Brooke Shields helps decide who can fashion the best business attire outfit.

Creating stylin' working girl wear should pose a major challenge to most of the crew, as their design sensibilities tend to be more outrageous than 9-to-5 office gear-y.

Will the stress have Suede referring to himself in the third person all night? What new, uninspired catchphrase will the challenge spark from Siriano-wannabe Blayne? And will Stella go ahead and make a leather business suit from Hell? All signs point to yes ...

'Making the Band 4'
(9PM, MTV) 3rd season premiere
The third season of the fourth version of the show? Huh? By our count, this is season 13 of the reality series, and quite frankly, in 13 tries, they should have made a band already. Many bands, in fact. And at least one whose music you might actually purchase.

'Shear Genius'
(10PM, Bravo)
The contestants have to cut the hair of their significant others and a group of rambunctious 5-year-olds. And no, the old bowl-on-the-head cut won't do for any of them.

'Lewis Black's Root of All Evil'
(10:30PM, Comedy Central)
Which is more E-V-I-L: the NRA or PETA? Paul F. Tompkins and Andy Kindler thrash it out before judge L.B.

'Extreme Waterparks'
(9PM, Travel Channel)
The Mega Wedgie sounds like the sort of thing one would avoid, but apparently visitors to the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, Texas pay good money for it.

'Man vs. Wild'
(10PM, Discovery)
Someone's spotted a Bear near New 'Awlins, and he's wrasslin' with gators and snakes.

'Click and Clack's As the Wrench Turns'
(Check local listings for time, PBS) 1st season finale
The Tappet bros. wrap their first season of 'toon fun by plotting an elaborate practical joke and building a casino in the garage, neither of which makes producer Beth's job any easier.

What's on tomorrow: 'Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,' 'Burn Notice' and more
