New TV on DVD releases this week

Justice League DVDHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

There's actually nothing on this list I want to buy. I'm not into Hannah Montana, I've never seen an episode of Bleach, I wasn't a big Married with Children fan, and I haven't bought any previous seasons of Perry Mason, so I might actually save some money this week.

I like Chelsea Handler though. Not sure if it's worth buying Girls Behaving Badly just for her.

  • Are You Afraid of the Dark? - Season 7
  • Bleach - Season 2
  • Camp Rock - Extended Rock Star Edition
  • Dexter - Season 2
  • Galaxy Rangers - Vol. 2

All animation 'deserves the Blu-ray treatment' (whatever that means). Animation that's upscaled ends up blurry. Timm's style of animation uses thin lines, which does not scale well. In addition, Blu-ray allows for lossless audio codecs, so we get to enjoy cleaner audio as well as video.

When Season 2 is released, we will finally have a proper widescreen release of that season. The DVD's for S2 were not anamorphic so they look especially horrid. I just wish they had made the S1 release use the widescreen version of the show that Timm prefers.

Nothing you want to buy??? While I would agree that there is far too much targeting tweens this week, what about "Dexter" or "Sarah Connor Chronicles"? I have been eagerly awaiting both releases all summer long! Add an above average season of "House" into the mix and there are three must-buy sets for me this week.

If anything Bob, the next few weeks are chock full of box sets as everything gets released in time for the new fall season. I'll be dropping at least two to three times what I usually spend a week on DVDs just to try to stay caught up. In addition to "Dexter", "House" and "Terminator" in the next two weeks alone, we've also got the most current seasons of "Heroes", "Desperate Housewives", "Life", "Eli Stone", "The Office", "Medium", "Ugly Betty", "Supernatural" and "Grey's Anatomy" slated to come out. All I can say is, thank you "Hannah Montana" that I only have to buy three box sets this week!
