She's baaaack: Michelle Rodriguez returns to Lost

by Kona Gallagher, posted Aug 25th 2008 4:38PM
michelle rodriguezLost may be the twistiest-turniest show on TV, but there is still one thing you can always depend on: death is never the end. Producers have proven this once again by announcing the return of the late LAPD officer, Ana Lucia. Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia during Lost's second season, wasn't exactly the most popular character the drama has ever had, so I doubt her resurrection was the result of a rabid fan uprising.

Rodriguez, of course, isn't the first deceased "Tailie" Lost has brought back. Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, appeared in one of Michael's visions last season. Rodriguez's return is fueling speculation that Mr. Eko, who met his untimely demise at the (hands?) of the smoke monster, may also return in some form.

Since we're talking about Lost here, there isn't exactly a wealth of details available about Ana Lucia's reappearance. However, there is a little bit of interesting information, which I've put after the jump for all of you spoilerphobes.

The episode that Rodriguez will appear in will most likely be the second episode of the season. Since it's unlikely that she survived being pumped full of bullets and then buried, she's probably going to appear as a vision. Cheech Marin, who plays Hurley's father, is also scheduled to appear in that episode, so there's a good chance that Ana Lucia is going to be added to the list of dead people that stop by to hang with Hurley. On the other hand, she may not be appearing in a spectral fashion at all. Hurley's father has a shady past, so there's also the possibility that he had a run-in with the very real Ana Lucia back in L.A.

The Tailie season was my least favorite in Lost's history, so I'm not exactly psyched to see Ana Lucia back. However, I can't imagine that the producers opted to have her appear this season if they didn't have a juicy storyline cooked up.

Are you glad to see Ana Lucia back, or do you wish the dead would just stay dead?

The only person who I would love to see come back on the show is the African guy who played Mr. Eko in season 2, his character was mesmerizing and I still keep waiting for him to reappear

I was mad when a certain death was spoiled for The Wire before the jump, I understood why people would be upset when the Top Chef winner was revealed in the title, but whining about this is just ridiculous. It's casting news, and not only that, it's casting news that is being widely reported.

I go to tvguide.com and it's the first news story on the home page, I go to a movie news website and it's being reported there, too. If the producers really wanted this to be a surprise they could have kept it that way instead of leaking it Ausiello.

This is just like last year when it was revealed Michael was returning when Harold Perrineau showed up at the Comic-Con Lost panel with Damon and Carlton. Not that big of a deal.

StillBash,

I just had a look at your recent posts and it appears you very rarely have anything positive to say about anything, so I will take your misinformed comments and ignore them.

The story list no plot info. The only info listed is that Michelle Rodriguez will be back in some form on the show and that it is likely to be in the second episode. THAT'S IT!

On top of that, the story states that producers of the show announced this news. They wanted you to know!

End of story!

So generally being negative equals being uninformed? I guess you read my comment on Stargate Atlantis and just chime in on calling me uninformed here on a completely different topic.

Learn how to discuss. I guess I can reply with a full on same to you. You are negative about me. You are uninformed about me. And I will ignore you in the future.

I mean you call yourself Butters. Great role model. Uninformed and clueless.

This story is all over the internet. I stopped counting at 20 different sites that have posted this. TV Squad was right to post this and should not be blasted for it. Don't browse the internet if you don't want to know what's going on in the world.

Um...you must all be joking, right? If you don't want to know what is happening on your favorite TV shows then why on earth are you visiting tvsquad.com in the first place. That is like going to the olympics website and complaining that they told you who won the shotput before it aired on NBC.

Yeah right, good argument.

Tell me again why I shouldn't read movie reviews to decide whether to shell out money for a flick or not. I guess putting major character/plot info into a review is ok for you then too.

This has been discussed half a dozen times on this website before. The users were polled and we gave them the advice to NOT put spoilers into the title, NOT use actor images in the teaser and put EVERYTHING that could be regarded as a spoiler AFTER the jump.

Why is it so hard to understand that? Why is it so hard to follow this simple guideline?

This is an ongoing show. All and every casting news should be regarded as spoilers IF the character is returning. That's so god damn easy to understand the only way you would not care about this info is if you don't care about the show.

And it's not even HARD to write a post that follows these guidelines.

I would love to see Mr. Eko too some how come back to life. Heck a lot of the people that we thought died would be cool to come back and when the Lost people are bringing back old friends why not kill off Jack at the same time.

I'm happy she is back. I think she is quite an underrated actress. I loved her ever since I saw her in Resident Evil. She reminds me of the chick from Aliens, Vasquez I think it was? Anyway, good for Michelle. :)
