Not so complicated after all - Denise Richards' show axed

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 26th 2008 11:23AM
Denise on beachIn terms of compelling celebrity reality shows, Denise Richards thought she had a great story to tell. Her life seemed very complicated, what with her fights with ex-husband Charlie Sheen and their legal wrangling over their children, it seemed like a compelling product.

Umm...no, it wasn't.

Today, E! pulled the plug on Denise Richards It's Complicated, her attempt to keep up with the Kardashians and outdo the Hogans. The bottom line with Denise's show was that it really wasn't that complicated. It was dull.

Her family appeared as her supporting players, including her father who -- like his children -- is still mourning the loss of his wife, Denise's mom. Those moments in the show were sad, but a little went a long way.

Denise's getting in the middle of the employment issues with her assistants was hardly great TV, nor was watching Denise driving in Beverly Hills. And, yes, the ratings were declining week after week.

The expectations for Denise's show were overblown. Her life isn't that arresting, especially since her issues with Charlie Sheen all happened in the past. It's Complicated wasn't even as interesting to watch as Hey, Paula, which was a train wreck of a reality show -- thanks to Paula "the gift" Abdul -- but fun to watch, just like Being Bobby Brown.

Still, while it was a bad day for Denise Richards, her ex -- Charlie Sheen -- had something to celebrate. The Emmy-nominated star of Two and a Half Men, who recently married Brooke Mueller, is on top of the world. Charlie and Brooke are expecting a new baby. That'll be Charlie's fourth child, and since he already has three daughters, he's kind of hoping for a boy. Of course, if Brooke has a girl, that'll be wonderful, too. Just don't expect them to name her Denise.

I never liked Denise Richards before, but I watched her show out of curiosity and ended up liking her. I don't like many reality shows, but I think this showed such a different side of her, with the relationship with her kids and family. How sad that Charlie Sheen would email her about her dying Mom and be glad she's lost her hair. He's a pig anyway. He won't stay faithful and will be right back with on-line porn soon. I would've like to have seen the show back.

Read somewhere that Denise is still talking with the network regarding a 2nd season...well...honestly, her show is kinda boring...annoying with the cursing coming out of her mouth...isn't the show being produced by Ryan Seacrest too?..This ex-bashing isn't really doing anything good for both parties....

In other news, HGTV is picking up 13 episodes of a show about paint drying.

God, I hope this is a wake up call for all networks that THESE STUPID CELEBRITY REALITY SHOWS ARE WORTHLESS! Anyone who would watch Denise's show needs to stop living vicariously and GET A LIFE.
