This year, the Emmys will feature everyone who has ever been on TV

Emmy ad
As we've told you before, this is the 60th anniversary of the Emmy Awards. The September 21 show, telecast on ABC, will not only celebrate the Best Actresses and Best Dramas of the current prime time lineup, it will also celebrate the many stars and characters and shows of 10, 20, 40, 60 years ago.

ABC has created an ad that features a lot of those stars. A lot of the stars are easy to find and it's a no-brainer that they were included (Marge and Homer, Rod Serling, Dick Van Dyke, Stewie, the South Park guys, etc), but I'm happy to also see some people I didn't think would be in such an ad: Guy Williams as Zorro, Robert Culp from I Spy, Mike Connors from Mannix, Tim Daly from Wings, Wally Cox from Mr. Peepers, among others.

People I saw while scanning the ad that kinda bummed me out: Howie Mandel (Deal Or No Deal era, not St. Elsewhere), Erik Estrada, and, too many celebs from the same show, though I guess including them really makes the ad well-rounded. I'm happy that there doesn't seem to be any reality show stars (that I can make out, anyway - did I miss one?).

Click here for a bigger version of the above picture. No, you don't have to find Waldo and there are no prizes for all of the stars you can name.

You can definetely tell ABC broadcast the Emmys this year by that poster...majority of those stars are from ABC shows especially the recent ones. The fact that they'd include ALL the Desperate Housewifes even the 6th bananas ( yeah, you Nicollette Sheridan) is ridiculous, Id have rather seen ALL six of the original Charlie's Angels ( yeah, you Tanya Roberts)..lol. Cool idea anyways.

How many characters are in that collage? 400+? I'm sure that took forever to put together. I work in clearances and that looks like a nightmare. I bet that if anyone was left out it was because they couldn't find the current contact info or the pics weren't cleared in time. I've worked on projects where we've only had to collect a handful of celebrity approvals and they've taken months. Knowing the Emmys, I'm sure they tried to get as many actors and actresses as possible.

Edit: Marketing Ideas Agency WONGDOODY (www.wongdoody.com) was responsible for creating the collage and accompanying creative executions, not ABC.

Evan: ah, yes, there he is. I wasn't sure if there were any reality show stars in there or not. I guess if you're going to have reality show contestants he'd be one of the picks.

You are mistaken about there being no reality show stars; Richard Hatch from the first season of Survivor appears right below the "6" in the banner.

I agree, a shame The Wire doesn't appear, although I guess it fits with the Emmy's entire philosophy which is to pretend the show doesn't exist.

I am glad to see a few Bluths dotted around, and I guess someone had killed Kenny by the time they got round to shooting this.

My one question is: How did they get manage to get everyone together at the same time? Big job!

They even have the Flight of the conchords characters and two BSG characters, but no Wire characters! This is a shame.

Howie Mandel has done more than reality TV! He deserves to be on there just for Bobby's World.

You just couldn't throw Omar or McNulty on your collage of "every character" on television, could you Emmys? You must really really hate The Wire.

I'll never watch the Emmys again due to the way they ignored The Wire.

I spent a good solid 10min looking but goddamn, Emmys?! You must really really hate the wire. Still no love for them even on a damn advertisement. I guess it doesn't really surprise me.
