Big Brother 10: PoV Competition #10, Eviction #10

(S10E26) "Anything I can use to win this game, I'll do." - Dan
We know that Dan will even do a visit with Michelle if need be for him to win the $500,000 prize in the Big Brother 10 house. Please note that I said he'd do a visit with Michelle, not that he'd do Michelle. Dan does have his limits, y'know. Tonight was the big special live Power of Veto meeting, live eviction, and the start of the final Head of Household competition. Excitement galore as we head into the final days.
The island getaway date
Yes, I'm skipping Recap City. They had a few new Diary Room bits, but we've seen it all before. It's straight to a private island with Dan and the girl of his dreams -- his dreams to win her vote, that is. Oh, and the island isn't so private either. Julie Chen mentioned on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night that it was Catalina. I've been there; it's so not private. But he did end up on a private beach!
While the move to select Michelle might seem a bit risky, it was really his only option. She would be the one most likely to come around. April or Ollie would be lost causes. But how did Michelle react? She was only told that a current houseguest had invited her, but she didn't know which one. Aw, how sweet -- he hid behind his helicopter for the reveal and then they hugged.
It was time for Dan to turn on his charm and that's something he does very well. If I were Monica (his girlfriend), I'd never know if he was charming me or whether the feelings are true. Michelle was skeptical for much of the day at the beach, but she caved in to his ways even though she knows (and accused him) he's just doing it for her vote. But, when you think of it, Michelle craves attention and, despite a rough persona, she seems to have low self esteem. Dan made her feel like a natural woman again ... or something to that effect. After a day of frolicking on the beach and in the water, plus a fine meal, he won her over. Or so it seems. I guess we won't really know how it all turns out until the vote. She told him she would work for his votes if it gets down to him and Memphis.
He did Michelle rather smartly by not only turning on the charm, but by letting her know that Keesha, Renny, and Memphis all knew she was going on the block for that "Veto Nominee Roulette" fracas. It pushes some of the blame off of him as a solo actor.
Stairway to Veto
This competition is a familiar comp with a bit of a different twist to it. In the yard, there were sets of stairs leading to a podium. They had to choose the correct answer, a houseguest name, for each question, then place the name in the staircase to ascend. The first one with all of the correct answers in ascending order makes it to the top and wins the most powerful Power of Veto in the season.
Jerry wants to win to save himself. Keesha wants to win to keep herself off the block. Memphis wants to win to save himself. Dan just wants to throw the competition. After all, he doesn't want the blood on his hands no matter who ends up leaving this week. "I have no vested interest in winning this competition. It might be time to bring the art of the throw back," Dan told us in a Diary Room bit.
Jerry was no competition at all and Keesha was getting frazzled with the wrong answers. Dan noticed that Memphis only had a few answers to go when he was down to one. So he kept putting the same answers in until Memphis caught up and then passed him for the win. Perfect for the Renegades plan. Memphis won't go home tonight!
Scheming and betrayal
Even though he's all alone in the house (and he's 75-years-old), Jerry feels he has to try to trust someone. Keesha, his most likely ally in the house, can't help him. So he decided he has to trust Memphis even though he doesn't really trust him. He thinks Memphis is his only chance to stay in the house. He's right. But Keesha is more naive. She actually trusts that Dan and Memphis will have her back because she's had their backs all through the game.
But Dan and Memphis think they have some serious thinking to do about which one to save. Earlier in the show, they tried to throw us off with Memphis telling Dan how happy he'd be to vote Jerry out. Now that they're thinking about it, they think it might be wiser to keep Jerry because he's a weaker player. Uh-oh, Keesha!
While talking to Dan and Memphis after the PoV comp, Keesha knew she would go on the block. No one since Marcellas has been fool enough not to save themselves when they held the veto. She was okay with that. She knew her guys would support her. That is until Memphis said, "It's a good thing you didn't unpack."
As Keesha painted her toenails while alone, she had an epiphany. Why, her best buds and allies were going to keep Jerry and vote her out! She ran to confront them and Memphis wouldn't even look at her. When she said "you guys are going to vote me out," Dan was quick to mention that only Memphis would vote. Ah, no blood on his hands, is there? She stomped out telling them that the person who votes her out won't have her jury vote. I really think that if Dan could have winked at the camera, he would have done so. Dan went on to console and comfort her, throwing his buddy Memphis completely under that good ol' bus. All through all of this, Memphis looked like he wanted to run and hide. Dan not so much.
Julie's hamster chat
The ChenBot started off her hamster chat with a clip of the gorilla from last week's luxury comp. When they revealed Jessie in the gorilla suit in the Diary Room, the hamsters had to laugh even though they had already figured out it was him. When asked if she would have reacted the same had she known it was Jessie, Keesha said she wouldn't have been quite as giddy because she never got along with him.
In other hamster chat, we found out that Dan was really thrilled with his helicopter trip. It was a trip of a lifetime for him. And we all know what fine company he had! Memphis was asked about his "fruitless exit" answer in the luxury comp and admitted it made absolutely no sense at all. And, I have to give credit where credit is due -- Jerry actually had a witty answer when Julie asked him how it feels to be on the block for the fourth time. He said he's made an offer to buy the house. And, gee ... he didn't mention that he's 75!
Live veto meeting and a quasi-graceful exit
Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am. With no fanfare whatsoever, Memphis saved himself with the veto and Keesha was put on the block. Keesha and Jerry immediately had to give speeches. Jerry went first talked about it all being a great ride, how honored he feels, and that he'd like to stay. Keesha, knowing that Memphis was going to betray her, refused to talk to him. She addressed her comments solely to Dan thanking him for being there for her the last few very hard days in the house. Dan the Man's plan is working like a well-oiled machine. He has Keesha's vote in his pocket when he's just as responsible for her exit as Memphis. Without further adieu, Memphis voted Keesha out.
She exited well, hugging Jerry and Dan. Dan gave her a toy duck, told her to check the bottom of it, and whispered something to her. The quick shot back to the house after Keesha left had Dan snapping at Memphis for voting out Keesha. Of course, it's all part of the game. I don't think Dan feels betrayed by Memphis at all. That was for Jerry's benefit. Memphis lost Keesha's vote for sure, but he's bound and determined to work on trading her vote for Jerry's vote. And Dan is in on the plan.
In talking with Julie, Keesha revealed that the bottom of the duck had the word "hot" on it. Well, that was a bit of a letdown, wasn't it? I thought it would be something a heck of a lot more than that! She also revealed that Dan whispered to her that he went on the trip with Michelle. She's not sure how that will work out, but she's planning to push for Dan to win over either Memphis or Jerry. She said that she figured out she was going to be voted out because Jerry was too calm. Heh ... she thinks that Memphis voted her out because he was worried that Dan would take her to the final two if he won HOH. That girl got so played by the good Catholic boy, didn't she?
The goodbye messages were pretty much what we would expect. Dan played more for her vote and said he wished he could have done something to save her. Jerry played for her vote telling her that her alliance betrayed her. Memphis said he only did it as a business decision and what was best for his own game. Keesha had to admit to Julie that Memphis is just playing the game.
The first part of the final HOH starts
As per the usual final Head of Household competition, this one is to consist of three parts. The first part is an endurance competition which we saw start tonight. The winner of the first part automatically plays in the final part. The two losers of the first part face off in the second part. The winner of the second part vies for the win with the winner of the first part. Have I confused you yet?
The first part of the comp is called "On a Wing and a Prayer." The three hamsters balanced atop fake airplanes with helmets, goggles, and guide wires. None of them had gloves. Now, if they had been nice to Ollie, he just might have donated his gloves! Dan and Jerry had jackets on, Memphis had on one of his ugly Dustin v-neck shirts. A special live feeds report will be posted soon with the winner of this round. Please -- no spoilers in the comments for this show post. They will be removed.
